saneindian Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Sree looks so much better when he focusses only on his bowling. Hope this fifer proves to be a real turning point for his career. He has had all the talents, its his temprament which has got him into trouble. And on evidence of what we have seen today, he really has worked hard on it. With his penetrative power, he adds so much x-factor to our bowling.
Sachinism Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I doubted the guy, but he's put in a top performance. I saw about 3 overs of his before tea and he was getting the ball to do all sorts
kabira Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 He always had talent. Got injured at wrong time. But great come back. He is kind of bowler who could get you wickets on any sort of wicket.
bharat297 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I'll put my hand up and admit I was one of the people who didnt want him picked for this test series, because I didnt think he deserved it. He has bowled very well today, however my concern is about his consistency. Can he continue this for the next year or so, the way Zaheer did when he returned to the Indian team?

But even if he can bowl a match turning spell like this once a series, it is good enough. Ishant has 54 wickets at 34 in 19 Tests, this guy already has 56 at 29 in his 15th match. He is a gem.
Fontaine Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 It's about time this donkey turned his talent into performance. Let's hope it continues.
The Outsider Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 It's about time this donkey turned his talent into performance. Let's hope it continues. He's done it ever since his debut. Just some idiots have been obsessed with his non cricket antics rather than his performance with the ball.
Karan114 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Yeah...even prior to this game he had 50 Test wickets at 31, which is pretty good.
Fontaine Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 He's done it ever since his debut. Just some idiots have been obsessed with his non cricket antics rather than his performance with the ball. Well he has bowled some very impressive spells yes, but he's also been very average to poor also. The antics are annoying, yes, but what bothers me more is that with the kind of genuine talent he has, the guy has to be more consistent in his spells because any time he can have control over his accuracy he becomes a very difficult bowler to handle.

Please don't even bother posting after you've advocated Pathan and Munaf over Sreesanth on bowling ability! Of course, he has his drawbacks - which perfect fast bowler have you seen 10 tests into his career, but as I have repeatedly emphasized he has the ability to produce match turning spells which none of his challengers barring Ishant has. He should be given a free license to play and fail just for his enthusiasm, the ability to never flag away, the pace, and the perfect seam position.
Karan114 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Well he has bowled some very impressive spells yes' date=' but he's also been very average to poor also.[/quote'] As I mentioned, even before this Test he had 50 wickets at 31. Aren't your expectations a little high if you still criticize him for bowling average to poor spells in addition to impressive ones? I mean, if he was only bowling good spells he would be Ambrose or McGrath. Let's be realistic, he has excellent numbers for an Indian fast bowler.
king2be98 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I didn't watch the game as I thought it was another dead wicket, but was Sreesanth being an idiot like he usually is, or has he finally learnt to play with some respect for the opposition? I can see the main picture on cricinfo and it looks like he;s giving a send off to one of the Sri Lankans.

Until then, you need not worry about a decent but excitable guy whose worst "sin" is to sledge a few players.

Show_stopper Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Guys can anyone who watched the whole days' action tell me what sort of speeds was Sree bowling at? I know its not important..but 'm just eager to know if he is back to bowling in the 140's like he did in that SA tour in 2006-07. Btw congrats to the guy.

Fontaine Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Please don't even bother posting after you've advocated Pathan and Munaf over Sreesanth on bowling ability! He should be given a free license to play and fail just for his enthusiasm, the ability to never flag away, the pace, and the perfect seam position. However, I have yet to hear a real argument against why Mishra should be bowled on a flat deck INSTEAD of going with someone who can best use the new ball like Sreesanth and Yuvi/Sehwag can take up the remaining overs. And guess what? I was right. Sehwag was bowled early in Lanka's 2nd innings and took a wicket in his first over. Sreesanth was given the new ball and he used it very well. Here's another example: Let someone like Sreesanth bowl here. Let him bend his back for a few days and see if he's got the stamina and heart to bowl on conditions like this. Again that's exactly what he did. He hit the deck hard and got the results. In the past, yes Munaf was chosen ahead of Sreesanth because he was more consistent at that time with his length and line and the selectors agreed with me, picking him ahead of Sree in the NZ Tour. That is complete and utter nonsense: A couple of days ago before that 2nd Test:

He's been around international cricket for 3+ years and most importantly he has the genuine talent to bowl great. There's no point criticizing useless, talentless bowlers because that's what they are, how could they be any better. But Sreesanth is different because he does have the kind of raw talent.
The Outsider Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 In the past, yes Munaf was chosen ahead of Sreesanth because he was more consistent at that time with his length and line and the selectors agreed with me, picking him ahead of Sree in the NZ Tour. Yeah and Munaf decimated NZ in the series.....:hysterical::hysterical:
The Outsider Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Not only in the NZ series he had the Saffies by the balls at Cape Town by bowling 115 kmph bouncers : http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/249217.html
