champ Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 he also won man of the series for champions trophy. :two_thumbs_up: now with this team , he will choke more often .. mark my words
champ Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 guys this is just not the time to take a dig at ponting .. if india can beat their side in next series .. lets start this debate. but ponting is very good.. no doubts about that.. the fire and determination in him to win matches , score runs and field brilliantly is enough to be considered a great player..
King Tendulkar Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 guys this is just not the time to take a dig at ponting .. if india can beat their side in next series .. lets start this debate. but ponting is very good.. no doubts about that.. the fire and determination in him to win matches ' date= score runs and field brilliantly is enough to be considered a great player.. Why should we? They need to beat us in tests. As last time we played them in test series we whooped them

pensionplan Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Someone finally gets it:--Doh really. Not really. You can keep rejoicing over other players supposed failures and rut in that hole of yours.
CSK Fan Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 oh really. Not really. You can keep rejoicing over other players supposed failures and rut in that hole of yours. Dude at least know the context before replyinh. He is not genuinely mocking Ponting's failure. This is just a parody of the kind of thread which used to be their for Sachin. No one is taking it seriously

Tendulkar was panned for not "winning" and taking the team to the win. This match showed that without the bowling support of McGrath & Warne and without match-winners like Gilchrist, Hayden etc. around him, Ponting would have been in the same boat as Tendulkar.
kabira Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 LOL at bump...old thread,,,oh man what fun.

With all things being same VVS did a better job of helping India win games in tougher situations than Tendulkar.

The only daylight between batsmen at the top is between Bradman and Tendulkar, who I believe to be the best after Bradman. As for 4th innings, I do agree that if I had to pick a batsman to bat for my life in the 4th innings I would probably go with Dravid or Laxman. But if I had to pick a batsman to bat for my life across a series, it would be Tendulkar (in case Bradman is not available).
Sachin=GOD Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I read the thread title as "Ponting - Joker?" :cantstop:
daryl1985 Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Why do people rate Ponting so highly. He is a chimpanzee faced, George Bush look a like who loves arguing with umpires. He is a definite FTB who struggled against good bowling attacks and was made to look like amateur whenever he toured India. Most overrated player of all time.

Yeah, to rely on a person in a grave I reckon would be a grave mistake ... literally :winky:
Sir john Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Punter :hatsoff: one of my fav great player.
