Free hit rule

What u guys think about the free hit rule?Isn't it killing the art of fast bowling when already the game is so much in favor of batsmen.

I think the free hit is OK but what the pacers nw need is the permission to bowl at least two bouncers per over. That might help balance the equation a bit.

2 bouncers in ODIs is not good but the bowlers should be allowed to bowl a bouncer if it is called a wide for height.

I don't like free hit rule.So much punishment imo.One extra run and extra ball is sufficient for the error.Everything is in batsman's favour.

I agree with you. Is there a more stupid rule that the one where a bouncer can't be bowled again even if it's called a wide. What a stupid stupid rule.

free hit s okay in T20s' date='not in ODIs.does the batsman gets penalised for standing outside his crease,so why the bowler?[/quote'] It has been generally introduced so as to cut down the no balls each innings and the mission has been very much successful with some teams(not Pakistan of course), this has reduced the time taken by the bowling side to complete one innings and therefore it should stay in ODIs IMO Answering your second question about why are the batsman not penalised for standing outside the crease is that the bowler knows that he is standing outside the crease(if only the wicket keeper tells him), so he can bowl waist high full toss and punish the batsman, its legal if the square leg umpire sees that the batsman is standing outside his crease. But apart from the technical part, we love fours and sixes dont we so we need sme excitement on the field so free hit delivers that, batsman want to capitalise on that.For bowlers there is nothing except not bowling a no ball :winky:

well there is enuf punishment of 1 run to bowler for overstepping,why the free hit.there is very minimal chance of keeper telling the bowler n batsman still staying there. but the point is batsman is standing outside his crease intentionally,so thats not a mistake,thats taking undue advantage.whereas the bowler oversteps by mistake,so why penalise a mistake?

we do love fours n sixes,so what do u suggest?have free hits every over come wat may?we cant make bowlers the scapegoat for that.for me,a stump cartwheeling is as exciting as fours n sixes.so why not introduce a delivery where a batsman cant score n can only get out?
