Indian cricket captain M S Dhoni and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh on Sunday sent the police in Chandigarh into a tizzy as they left the team hotel without informing the police while Yuvraj Singh also went out declining an offer to have security personnel with him. The police said they were not amused at the "irresponsible action" of the players and have prepared a report about the "security violations" made by them. Man-of-the-match in India-Australia third one-dayer in Delhi, Yuvraj Singh, was the first to leave the Taj, the team hotel, and drove out in a car. Yuvraj, who belongs to Chandigarh, drove out in a Audi bearing a temporary registration number of Haryana late on Sunday evening from the hotel in Sector 17 and returned a couple of hours later, police said. Later, Dhoni and Harbhajan also followed suit and left the hotel for a brief period without informing the security, which a senior official said was mandatory. "First Yuvraj left and when we told him to take a security official with him, he outrightly refused. Then captain M S Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh also left their hotel without informing," Chandigarh's Superintendent of Police (Security) H S Doon said. He said Deputy Superintendent of Police Roshan Lal, who is the camp commandant deputed at the hotel where the teams are staying, had prepared a report about the "security violations made by the players". If they are so sure about their security, why do they carry a web around them anyways ? Very poor behavior by them. Police are trying to offer them best security possible and if they are the ones to disturb it, then there is really nothing police can do.

Chandigarh police Sunday complained to the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Sunday about the 'surprise' outings of Indian cricket players from the hotel where they are staying here. 'First Yuvraj Singh, breaking all the security barriers, stepped out of Taj Hotel at around 7.30 p.m. He went away in a friend's car. Not only this, after sometime, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh also went out of the hotel without informing anybody,' Superintendent of Police (Security) H.S. Doon told IANS late Sunday evening. 'I have got a report from Deputy Superintendent of Police Roshan Lal, who is in charge of the players' security. On the basis of the report, I have written a complaint to PCA president seeking action against these players,' he said. 'In order to ensure foolproof security of players, we want cooperation from them. But such incidents make things really difficult for us,' Doon added. Police sources told IANS that Chandigarh police is also planning to write to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), raising this issue of breach of security cover with them. Hotel staff said that Yuvraj had gone out with a friend to meet his father Yograj Singh, who lives in the city. The Indian team had reached hotel Taj here Sunday evening. They will play the fourth match, of the ongoing seven-match Hero Honda Cup, against Australia at the PCA stadium in neighbouring Mohali town, around 10 km from here, Monday.

Saw it in the news too. They said six players were there including MSD, UV, Raina and Bhajji. UV and Bhajji are almost localites in Mohali and they know the place well. But now they are VVIP while coming with the team and maybe they forgot that. :--D Anyways Chandigarh Police has complained to PCA who might refer it to BCCI now. :((

Why are you crying Viru? If anything untoward happens, everyone will blame the police only for lack of security. They have done the right thing by informing the concerned boards.

He is also a boy like us and feel safe in our city as we know everything about it. But yes they were wrong to neglect the security cover. Ok I am posting a security news in another thread right now and this concern is valid after that.
