champ Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 we have surely lost the home advantage .. gone are the days of turners where we strangle the opposition with our spinners . our current team is not confident of playing 2 spinners . with us playing on flat pitches most of times , our bowlers get pounded badly. based on recent results suggest i think we are starting to play away better than at home. the bowlers get something to bowl on and our batsmen tighten up in their techniques . do u see this changing trend ??
Dinx - the Jinx Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 isn't that what we wanted, when we were winning at home and not winning abroad? during the 90s, ppl were saying we need to make sporting wickets to be a good host for tourists.. we did that and now we are seeing the results.. no other country has gone out of their way to make wickets to suit opposition.. but we have been doing that since the end of last decade and the results are showing... i would like to go back to the days of azhar and wadekar..

bharat297 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Well India has the 2nd best away record this decade of any cricketing nation, so I think that is the trade-off. We have won series' all round the world. I think its more a case of other teams coming to India more often and getting used to the conditions. Particularly Australia who have come to India 3 years in a row now for Tests and ODIs and add to that IPL, plus Champions League. Teams know Indian conditions very well now, whereas in the 90s they didnt. Don't be fooled into thinking that if we produced a raging turner we could have won. I think we have a balanced enough line-up to win on any surface now. We just played very poorly this series. Don't complain about the pitch. The players should perform better. Not every pitch in Australia is a fast-bouncy wicket either.
fuub Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 probably didnt help that the champions league a few days before the series start was in india and guys like bollinger mckay, lee, white, siddle, hauritz, henriques all were already acclimatised, even though a few of them flew back to australia before flying out to india again. however the australian camp said it disrupted their preperations.
Dinx - the Jinx Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 with kumble gone now.. we cannot go back to the azhar / wadekar formula... its interesting that india are starting a home test season without kumble after a long time.. i guess the last time was in 2001 when he was injured and bajji routed the australians.. lets see who becomes the hero this time.. i want mishy to succeed and go on to become the main striking weapon for us in tests..

Its fair we should have conditions to suit our strengths. Its good for cricket But it won't stop them moaning about sub continent conditions

Would be lovely to hear the Sky crew crying about the pitches then. We have been far too cordial to the visiting teams by giving them pattas to play on. As a policy, let's play at least one test of a series on a rank turner from now on.

They can't beat us in India irrespective of the type of pitch.

Let's show them what home advantage is then hear them moan about it as to how disgraceful such pitches are and how such pitches are killing cricket.
