The criticism that Dhoni comes to bat at number after get a good start is a little OTT. Dhoni has batted at no. 3 on 5 occassions out of the 69 matches he's been captain in. 1.http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/386533.html We were 14/1 when he came to bat, scored 94 in 96 balls, we scored 332 and won by 67 runs. 2. http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/366623.html We were 69/1 in 11 overs, scored 84 in 89 balls, we 273 in 38 overs, won by 53 runs. This was the 1st ODI of the NZ series after we had lost the 2 t20s losing a bunch of wickets in first 6-7 overs trying ti hit everything out of the park. He came at no 3 in this match and then even when we got good starts in the kater matches didnt come, perhaps his way of telling his batsmen to play with some patience and esnure they make use of a good start. 3. http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/377315.html We were chasing 160 in 22 overs, were 84/1 after 10 overs, MSD scored 46* in 34 balls and we won. This was after the 2nd ODI in WI where we were 95/8 at one stage. 4. http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/403383.html We were 95-1 in 18 overs, dhoni scored 56 in 62 balls, we scored 319 and won by 46 runs. This was after the dead rubber between Ind-SL when both had qualified and we had failed to chase 300 plus total by SL. 5. http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/430886.html We were 153/1 in 20 overs, dhoni scored 72 in 53 balls, we made 414 and won by 3 runs. Again the 1st match of a series after the no 3 hadnt done too well in 5-6 games of the previous series. Now 5 times out of 69 ( out of which we have got great starts in most of the matches) isn't being selfish but rather being smart enough to ensure we use our resources wisely and get a win for the team. In any case, all 5 occassions, we won the match and there shouldnt be any complaints on that.

So my question to that is, why didnt he come at no.3 at Christchurch? in the third ODI in the same series after having done so well :dontknow: Was it because the track was a little green or was it because India lost Sehwag when the score was just 15 and the ball was doing a lot early on :D

I agree with The Dark Horse.I am not against Dhoni hes a superb player according to me, but the point i am taking out is that everyone should be given chances to play on flat tracks and get easy scoring opportunities.For that matter i have never seen him batting at no.3 when we were in Aus, Why?

Against SA the same thing happens. http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/356014.html My point is 1.Either Dhoni should have allowed Raina to have a hit against Bangladesh/Irelend. 2.Or should not have allowed Raina(with nil match practise) to go in at 3 by himself taking the responsibility of coming in at no.3-simply because of the fact that he was the one who had better match practise. Here again I m not accusing Dhoni of anything. He is the coolest captain that I have ever seen. But here and there some decisions like batting order and team selections(not all) are irritating, which if he rectifies will be the best ever. On the other hand, i wouldnt have cared for these things if we were winning.

Lets take the T20 world cup, Dhoni had a look of things, let us say he had a pretty good hit in the middle- at least had a measure of things in the first two matches. 1.

You are a couple of Raina fans and you believe that Raina is just as good as Dhoni and the reason why Dhoni has been made captain is to build a career for Raina. And I have debated it enough. No DK we are not Raina fans by any stretch of imagination.We all like Dhoni after all hes our great captain, i am just saying that Dhoni if he decides to come in at. no.3 should make that his permanent position and if he bats at no.5 he should make that his permanent position. Thats it, he should not see the tracks and decide the batting order.No offence regarduing dhoni's performance, hes a class act and records and stats prove it, so just pin pointing at one factor is not an insult to dhoni, its just a kind of strategy which can only be used in the short run and not long run as it may hamper other batsmen's career Now did you get our point DK?

I said Raina is as good as Dhoni on a flat track/low pressure situations. We agree to disagree. I cant convince you mate. And I just took Raina as an example. In fact I like both players.
