Death penalty for Saddam Hussein -------------------------------------------- Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been convicted of crimes against humanity by a Baghdad court and sentenced to death by hanging. He was found guilty over his role in the killing of 148 people in the mainly Shia town of Dujail in 1982. His brother Barzan al-Tikriti was also sentenced to death, as was Iraq's former chief judge Awad Hamed al-Bander Former vice-president Taha Yassin Ramadan got life in jail and three others received 15 year prison terms. Another co-defendant, Baath party official Mohammed Azawi Ali, was acquitted. Saddam Hussein shouted out "Allahu Akbar!" (God is Greatest) and "Long live Iraq. Long live the Iraqi people!" after the judge announced the verdict. Correspondents say the former leader looked visibly shocked as the sentence was passed, but the BBC's world affairs editor John Simpson said that as he was led away Saddam Hussein seemed to have a small smile on his face. But i know thats not going to happen in the near future.... on this criteria no head of state in the world will remain alive.. idea is killing for the sake of killing is abhorable and punishable offence. they call what u mentioned collateral damage. Will they hang him, gas him (oh, the irony), shoot him, strap him up to an electric chair, or feed him to a Burmese python ? Maybe leave him alone in a room with Imraaaaaaaaan Khan and Showape (when he is on one of his acid trips) ? If Imraaan's uber-boring voice won't kill him, the steroid monkey probably will. yoda Posted November 7, 2006 Share Posted November 7, 2006 Re: Saddam gets death ... the iraq war is the biggest modern day farce. saddam atleast had his country under control. they were contributing to the world oil market and he wasn't/isn't the only dictator in the world. btw, the cost of putting saddam to death: 380 billion USD (and counting), prolly about a million Iraqi civilian deaths, a country in total disarray and another breeding ground for Al-Qaeda.
