Mr. Wicket Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 I miss the Fat Man. :(( And the team misses an attacking, gutsy spinner. :((
Lord Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 ^me too.Watching Powar is like watching those old time offies, who throw the ball above the eyeline of the batsmen n decieve them with enuf drift, loop n spin. with his style,he was always gonna be expensive in ODIs,but could have been far better in tests.i wonder why selectors didnt give him enuf chances.
SJS50 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Talking of bowling above or below the eye line, there is a very interesting story about the Australian off spinner Mallet's visit to the old master, Grimmett. At one point the old man asked Mallet to imagine he was lying on the road in the night and then suddenly he saw headlights approaching in his direction. Would he be able to judge at what speed the vehicle was aproaching? mallett replied, "No". The old man then said, "Imagine you are standing on a high bridge looking at a road below with a car coming up with headlights in the night. Would you be able to judge the speed?" . Mallett replied, "probably yes". "Thats what you need to do" replied the great man. "Get your ball coming from above the batsman's eyeline!"
