Showing good form off late. Played good finishing roles in the middle order @ home and now plays a blazing innings opening. Any chances of a comeback? Pretty good fielder too, and can offer that WK option if Dhoni wants a rest.

Pressure doesn't get much higher than that match situation) DNB v/s Aus DNB v/s WI 9 v/s Aus 62 v/s Aus(Mohali game which we won) 9* v/s Aus 17 v/s Aus 59 v/s Aus( HYD game..again high pressure innings) 0 v/s Aus 16 v/s SL 68 v/s SL DNB v/s SL DNB v/s SL 35 v/s SL 51* v/s Ban DNB v/s SL (today) So thats, 2 50's out of 5(effectively 4 because of the 9 n.o inning) games against Aussie attack with one, and superb 41 against a PAk attack, a 68 and a 35 against out of 3 games v/s SL. I'm sorry I would take somebody like that over a guy who has scored: 34 v/s WI (CT) 32* v/s SL (game was decided long before he came in) 19* v/s SL (same as above) 48 v/s SL (today..nott he most convincing innings you'll ever see though..was chancing his arm way too much). Not to belittle his efforts or anything but compared to Raina he has been getting 'cheap' (for want of a better term) runs against essentially mediocre attacks. Yeah hes not done nearly enough to get back in..afterall this is the Indian batting line-up we're talking about,not Pakistani. We got certain standards to maintain. There is also the fact that Kohli has done better than him in all the innings that hes played in.

he is not an exciting talent, he is a plucky guy but i dont think he can come and replace anyone in our squad right now. Not the first choice in our squad but good back up.

raina has still not matured to play big iinnings or atleast when the top order has failed .. one example was match against AUS in guhawati .. DK can relied upon to build a innings .. only thing raina is ahead in hitting dept .. fielding wise both are equal again ..

I think DK is a good player, but the competition is too high in the batting department, especially the top order, where there is absolutely no place unless somebody gets injured. The middle order strength cant be well determined because recent matches, the top order has mostly finished the job for India. Again no complaints there, :winky:

MSD will always prefer to have DK in his 15 because : 1. DK can bat anywhere, top order, middle order, lower order and produce good scores 2. Minus the gloves , he is a good fielder 3. Gives an option for MSD to take rest in incosequential matches during a series

1. DK can bat no where. So far he has been crap in all positions. Either his average is low or his SR is. 2. He is an ok fielder at best. All the other non-bowling younger guys are better fielders. 3. Sure, as a wicket-keeper batsman, DK should be Dhoni's understudy, but never should he replace a batsman in the side.

Dk cannot do anything. 1 out of the ordinary game is not an example. Its an exception. Raina is averaging 40 with a SR of 90 in the last 2 years. For someone coming in at 5 or 6, Raina has been very good. DK meanwhile, nudges a 30 or 40 now and then. He generally fails in all situations.
