Temujin Khaghan Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 karthik is a better batsman than ravindra jadeja... but unfortunately picked up keeping instead of bowling in his younger days. if not for msd, he would have been our keeper now.
champ Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Dk cannot do anything. 1 out of the ordinary game is not an example. Its an exception. Raina is averaging 40 with a SR of 90 in the last 2 years. For someone coming in at 5 or 6, Raina has been very good. DK meanwhile, nudges a 30 or 40 now and then. He generally fails in all situations. dont talk like DK has failed as if he had 30 or 40 overs to play .. he is as good as kohli or rohit or raina .. he will be better in fact on livelier pitches ..
bsriharsha Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 the team looks settled atleast while batting
Zap_Brannigan Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 dont talk like DK has failed as if he had 30 or 40 overs to play .. he is as good as kohli or rohit or raina .. he will be better in fact on livelier pitches .. As good as Raina ? How did you come to that conclusion ? DK has failed. He has played probably half his innings in the top 4 and yet average a **** 21. And has probably "waddled" at the lower order at a pathetic SR. Raina, in the last 2 years has a good avg at a great SR. Karthik has neither.

Zap_Brannigan Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 there is nothing separating them now among all the youngsters .. dont keep bringing raina .. i am talking about evryone Why did you bring up Raina?Raina is way ahead of those 3. Now since you bought Raina in with everybody, i merely proved you wrong. Rohit is nicknamed Nohit in this part of the town. Kholi, has after a long time, played his 1st (and 2nd)good innings in the last 2 series. These 2 (til before the SL series) has, give or take, done about as good Karthik.....in that all 3 have been pathetic. Raina, meanwhile has been very consistent. Kholi, in the last 2 series has shown that he is atleast capable of getting a big score at a good SR when the team is not in a good position. Whether he can do it consistently is yet to be seen. So that pits the bottom 2, Nohit and Karthik against each other. Nohit is still rated higher because he is very good in first class, something Karthik is not. So the pecking order goes like Raina >>>>>>>>>>> Kholi >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nohit >>>>>>>>>>> Karthik
Sachinism Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Zap you seem to forget how well KKD played in England, in the test series. KKD has played quite a few good knocks lately too, considering he is used to fill in spaces. He gets called up randomly and then sent back, called back and made to play in any position, I think he has done really well
Zap_Brannigan Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Zap you seem to forget how well KKD played in England' date=' in the test series. KKD has played quite a few good knocks lately too, considering he is used to fill in spaces. He gets called up randomly and then sent back, called back and made to play in any position, I think he has done really well[/quote'] When was that? A couple of years back...Being called back and not getting consistent run is not an excuse. Lot of people dont get even that. Karthik has been getting a call back for no proper reasons either. Its not like he hasnt played enough tests and ODI's. He has played 22 tests and 37 ODI's and average less than 30 in both. 22 tests is around 2~3 seasons of test cricket for India. How many more does he need to prove himself?100 ? Like i said with regards to afridi, you give an infinite number of monkeys typewriters, you are bound to get 1 masterpiece. Similarly, you give him 50 more chances, he is bound to get a 50 every now and then. He needs to do more than that to deserve a spot.
Sachinism Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 He hasn't been given a consistent run, but when he has played, most of the times he has scored runs.
Zap_Brannigan Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 He hasn't been given a consistent run' date=' but when he has played, most of the times he has scored runs.[/quote'] Then how come his average is in mid-20s?
champ Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Then how come his average is in mid-20s? read the posts properly .. his average is in mid 20s or 30s bcos he is not consistently given a place to perform .. he is as good as others .. i will stand by that ..
Sachinism Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Then how come his average is in mid-20s? Take his average over the last year its better than his career average. Its 38.71, not the best but, he has been putting in some decent performances, plus he has the shots
Zap_Brannigan Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 read the posts properly .. his average is in mid 20s or 30s bcos he is not consistently given a place to perform .. he is as good as others .. i will stand by that .. Yeah right......excuses!! You think everyone else got a decent run without performing well? Why does he deserve a consistent spot over others? He has played nearly 2 seasons worth of games and yet to play a truly great innings. Every one in this team has played 1 such innings when they came in the side or when they came back in after being dropped. Where is his great innings ? All he is good for is some 30 or 40 every now and then. There are far better batsmen in domestic circuit who hasnt been given a chance in the International team.

DK is a talent to preserve ..
Temujin Khaghan Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 So the pecking order goes like Raina >>>>>>>>>>> Kholi >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nohit >>>>>>>>>>> Karthik funny how the guy on top of the youth brigade cant play a proper pull shot on a decent track against decent pace, whereas the others can and have proved that on many occasions. on a side note, raina is the most matured of the lot and thrives in pressure and a bit hitting prospect for wc11. karthik can spank a few. rohit is class. yet to see kohli hit some monsters like raina and yuvraj.
Temujin Khaghan Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 yuvraj is in, switching on the tv for the forst time today. :--D

What have others proved, let Kohli and others get tested against hostile bowling(Flintoff) in helpful bowling conditions and then we can talk.

LOL..they said the same thing against one of the most successful ODI player this country has ever seen.
Anakin Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Again not good enough. And Kohli outplayed UV so easily, at least on this evening.
