The Dark Horse Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 ^yes, overall avgs and if possible separate ones(against each opposition).
thongale Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 List of those who have done 3 or more times in their career Namma Baaasu 6 RT Ponting 5 ML Hayden 5 BC Lara 5 SM Gavaskar 4 JH Kallis 4 ME Trescothick 3 MA Taylor 3 KC Sangakkara 3 AR Border 3 KP Pietersen 3Why don't you post the nuber of seasons they played as well? Sachin played 19 seasons to get 6 1000+ seasons. That comes out as 31.6% where as Pietersen played only 7 seasons for his 3, 42.8%. Ponting has played for 16 seasons get 5, and that comes down as to 31.25%. Sangakkara 3/12 = 25%, and the sort of form he's in will add few more to the record. Why keep fixing the stats?
maverick.rules Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Bossbhai - start counting u will have 1000 in the next 11 innings
Tapioca Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Baasu narrowly missed equalling Bradman and Sobers record of having completed 1000 runs in least no.of inngs ( 12 ). Baasu has done it in 13. Bradman has lower sequences - for eg, there is a 1000 in 8 innings of 270,26,212,,169,51,144,18,102
Tapioca Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Only 6 times in a career spanning 22 years did he get to play more than 10 tests a year. Deplorable planning. Sachin scored >1000 in 5 of those 6 rare years. The only time he didn't, he scored 915. at an average of 91.50
thongale Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Actually more than the yrs it is better to put up the no.of tests these players had to play per year ... something tells me you wouldnt be interested in that ... but lemme know.Go ahead and like to see the results too. Better would be to calculate the number of matches they have taken to score 1000 runs. I am sure who is going to end up at the top among those.

Sachin scored >1000 in 5 of those 6 rare years. The only time he didn't, he scored 915.Sorry to spoil the party. K Sangakkara only got four seasons that he played more than 10 tests, and three of them he scored 1000+. The other he score 992 runs. The take home message is that don't dig stats, because we know Sachin is great. Stats digging will nothing to enhance it, in fact may provide opposing views to it.
