A very thought provoking movie that I saw the other day. Enough to share the context and check what others may think: Gist: A couple in Spain are on the verge of losing job and pretty much everything. Their boss suggests they make videos of their sexual encounters that would then be sold in Scandinavian countries(even Europeans mock Scandinavians lol, but I digress). During the course of these movie makings the man becomes a movie fiend of sorts and an Ingmar Bergman fan wanting to make classics. He writes a story and casts his wife as the lead. His wife has been desiring a child for long and somehow in this whole scenario it gets pushed behind. During the course of a fertility test later it comes out that his husband would be unable to have kids. Meanwhile his hubby is busy shooting the masterpiece movie. His financier throws a spanner at the very end and puts in a sexual shot. The man is miffed to direct a shot with his wife and other man and decides to stop the shooting. The wife chooses to stay back since she wants kids(I almost make it sound like she was being selfish, she was not.) Everyone got what they wanted. The financier his movie with sexual scenes, husband his masterpiece and wife her kid. And still.... What is your take on this? Or is it one of those topics on which a man will almost always think differently than a woman will? xxx

So the wife does it with the actor because she wants kids? Dont think Id like that. There are other ways to try have kids arent there if the bloke isnt quite firing (I dont know specifics here)

Well this movie was set in 70s when Science was not as advanced. That being said the basic question that came to my mind is does the matter of having kid render it "okayish" for women to sometime behave this way? All things considered if a man was doing the same, as in making a baby out of a wedlock would that be as acceptable? I wish I had an answer, maybe there is none in this case.

as long as the actor she is having sex with to get pregnant knew he was being used as a sperm donor (with the husband's knowledge ofcourse) then who are we to judge?
It is not about judging but about thinking really. You could watch a movie and not think about it twice, or you may watch a movie and then go it over in your mind a few times. This was a movie that belonged in second category.

I think its unacceptable in either scenario- the hubby or wifey- tbh. Call me ultra conservative. But if all means scientifc and medical fail then adopt, and if you cant, so be it. Just enjoy each others company I guess...

Do the husband wife stay together after this or is it not shown in the movie? Perhaps a part 2 can be made about the emotional struggles such a couple would go through to keep reconciling the situation day in and out.
