India struggling to find quality spinners-Laxman

In Bhajji' date= Ojha, Mishra, Chawla, Ashwin, Powar we have got enough spin talent in the country to cover the base for next 8-10 years. Then there is the younger lot of Vikas Mishra, Abdullah, Srinivas and Harmeet Singh who with proper guidance will become better spinners. Thats a pool of about 10 spinners we are talking about. How about getting some of them into a spin clinic run by someone like Bedi, Prasanna and Chandra and help them hone their skills? Also give any of the spinners in bolded letters a spinning track like we used to have in the 80s and 90s and trust me they will bundle out the opposition as easily as Kumble used to do at home in the 90s. On the north vs south bias in team India, well give me 15 players from Tripura Meghalaya , Pondicheryy or even Andaman and Lakhshwadeep all capable of doing well for the country and I will have no problem at all in supporting them. Can't quite understand what the fuss is all about.

I wish everybody were as positive as you in estimating the current lot of spinners. If you look at that list of current spinners with promise you have given there is not even one there who believes in beating the batsman in the air. And it is not as if they can run through the opposition pell mell if given a slightly advantageous wicket - a la Kumble. That is not to say Kumble cannot do it in adverse conditions. In such conditions he can successfully hold off batsmen and keep wheeling away over after over. All of the spinners mentioned above are defensive ones. Chawla started off thinking aggressively but then regressed to extreme defensiveness and an off stump line. As a leg spinner there is nothing more defensive you can do. In fact he relies more on his googly to pick wickets than the stock ball. Powar used to be a big hearted bowler. But is himself no more. He is the one bowler who has the potential to tempt and tease the batsmen to their demise. An attacking spinner in the truest sense of the term. Once Harbhajan steps down or loses form, we really would be in a quandary. And the pressure on our faster bowlers will increase further.

We have piyush chawla, pragyan ojha, Bhajji the most feared spinner by Aussies, amit mishra, ashwin even Ishant can turn the ball both ways. As far as i know India has produced 6 quality spinners and 3 quality medium pacers throughout their history the famous spin quartet, kumble and bhajji pacers---> kapil, Srinath and Zaheer remaining are all sidekicks... coming n going.....
