Gunner_Mania Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Anybody here uses the Slingbox in India to sling TV channels from India? Is it worth spending the money considering the bandwidth and upload speeds in India? I want to take one when I go home later this year, but can't make up my mind.
Cricketics Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Have tried, tested. Has worked before but then it's never static as you would expect. Plus thats like 5 years ago when i tried. In all my recent tries, I have always failed to get any signal. I don't even bother doing it now. However, I will give a try to this new Tata Photron thing which just came in India. You could be able to watch all tv channels using USB. even though thats not for overseas people, but will give a try.
Gunner_Mania Posted February 6, 2010 Author Posted February 6, 2010 Didn't know about tata Photon. Just checked it. It hardly has any sports channels. I am mainly looking for Cricket & football streaming. You can watch more EPL in India then you can do here due to the saturday afternoon blackouts. Some guys seem to have had success with the Slingbox recently http://www.slingcommunity.com/forum/thread/18300/Slinging-In-Chennai--India/?page=25

Cricketics Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I thought we were talking about the one which could catch India's channel from India.. not the regular FTA's available in U.S and Canada.
Cricketics Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Never worked properly. I had one from Taiwan. I could catch Super Sports south africa from there about 2 years ago.
Gunner_Mania Posted February 6, 2010 Author Posted February 6, 2010 I thought we were talking about the one which could catch India's channel from India.. not the regular FTA's available in U.S and Canada. I am talking about hooking a sling box to one of the satellite or cable providers in India and then sling it over to the UK via the internet. Is it different in US and Canada?
