talksport Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Sorry I have to open this thread. Did you get my Email that I sent to indians@indiancricketfans.com? From yesterday I am not able to access ICF from office.I have attached the error message in the email. Before I get that sorted out there I want to confirm there is no problem at the site end. Thanks in advance for looking into it. Cheers
Dhondy Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Re: Attn: Ravi PK, have you tried accessing just the forums? It worked for me. http://www.indiancricketfans.com/modules.php?name=Forums
kabira Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Re: Attn: Ravi Ravi, Somehow I cant access it from home using the address. I have to use ipaddress to log in. There might be lot of new poster who would try to login using the web address and they might be getting error messages... Is there a way to sort this out.
talksport Posted November 21, 2006 Author Posted November 21, 2006 Re: Attn: Ravi Oh Well... Then it is bloody DNS caching... I have to contact Patrick to refresh DNS for the benefit of south east england posters
yoda Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Re: Attn: Ravi I had the same problem this morning for about an hour or so (around 10 am PST).
King Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Re: Attn: Ravi It is the DNS catching. To be honest I cannot see anything wrong in our setting but will have a look at our DNS servers to see why this happens.
Dhondy Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Re: Attn: Ravi What on earth is DNS catching? Pray, whizkids, please explain to us ignoramuses?
talksport Posted November 21, 2006 Author Posted November 21, 2006 Re: Attn: Ravi In simple analogy DNS is like a "Name" in your contacts of your mobile phone. You call Mr. XYZ .from your phone .....but actually you call 0121 3541588 DNS Caching is done to get faster translationof Site Name to IP Address. So when a Site changes its server( IP) the DNS name needs to be refreshed.
yoda Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Re: Attn: Ravi DNS- Domain Name Service, provides hostname to IP address mapping Local systems, proxies cache this lookup as they don't want to keep going to the DNS server to obtain this mapping. When you change the IP address of your system from IP1 to IP2 and change DNS mapping, the cached entries in each local system will not try to get IP2 for your host till the TTL (time to live) has expired. Ravi, I don't think this is a caching issue as my local system couldn't get any IP (cached or uncached) for indiancricketfans.com this morning.

King Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Re: Attn: Ravi Really... I thought I fixed it a while ago. What was the problem you had Radika? If this continues I will have to change the domain registrar.

Zooter Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Re: Attn: Ravi Ravi, Yet another request (sorry): can you make the font size a little bigger. Maybe it's just me in my old age, but methinks it's a little too tiny. What does everybody else think??? :chin:
King Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Re: Attn: Ravi Which theme are you using Zooter? There are two themes, one is fisubsilver and the other is DreamerBlue. DreamerBlue has bigger fonts. You can go to "Your Account" from the top menu, go to themes and change it to "DreamerBlue"
