dial_100 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I have BitDefender AV on my lappy. It does quite a decent job of protecting my system. But today, I discovered an EXE file. This is the last entries in the log. This exe ended up on my disk on 01/08. I have no idea how in the world it could come in? Are these cricket feeds so unsafe?? that these guys transfer crap viruses through these video plug-in for streaming?? Do you customize settings on your filewall? Or the default settings should be tight enough? Please observe the conversation if you cannot add any value to it. THIS IS NOT Never Ending Thread for CNLS.
Gunner_Mania Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Generally I would block all incoming requests. I would do this on my wireless router's firewall. Do you have a personal firewall on your laptop or do you use the one on a wireless router. I am guessing that you use a wireless router / modem.

Dur, block known adware and spyware hosts with this hosts file: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm Viruses will always be an issue if you know sweet f. all about security as most computers users do.

I use AV as well. Another reason for Windows being ****, you can just script it and add it to the cron task to automatically update the hosts file on Linux.
