Re: The Best Torrent Search Engines

Guys' date=' what are torrents? I know it is something like a upload/download ratio based file sharing but how to go about installing and does it take days to download a 500 MB file???[/quote'] 1 Download Azureus and install 2. Go to BWTorrents/DesiTorrents /TMSTorrents ..... 3. Download a DivX/Xvid torrent file....usually 1.3 GB in size and DVD quality. Make sure there are SEEDERS for it . 4. Use your client ( azureus) to start Download /Upload 5. Depending on speed and no of Sharers ( Seeders) you can download it in 6 - 10 hours. 6. Enjoy the movie.

Guys' date=' what are torrents? I know it is something like a upload/download ratio based file sharing but how to go about installing and does it take days to download a 500 MB file???[/quote'] Dont know if u already know all this. Just incase u dont, Torrents are a revolution in the world of downloads. The traditional model in downloading requires the downloaded file to be hosted somewhere (on a website or on a disk), until the download is complete. This has several issues: a) High Bandwidth requirements on the host (not suitable for ordinary users hosting the file) b) Availability of the file (when the host goes offline, file is not downloadable) c) Fairness: Downloaders leech off the host without giving anything back. Torrent conquers all these limitations. It lets users connect to each other and download large files from each other without any of them having a full physical copy of the file. To kick start the download, someone must seed the file at the very beginning. The person who seeds the file has a full copy of the file. Imagine this file to be one large chunk & 10 people downloading from him. In the ideal scenario, each downloader could download 10% of diff portions of the file, so among the downloaders, they have one virtual copy of the file, in addition to a physical copy available on the seed. * This increases availability because, u can download from virtual copies in addition to the physical copies of the file * It optimizes the bandwidth usage, since not everyone go to one central location to download the file. * In addition torrents also guarantee fairness. They let u download only as much as u are willing to upload (unless no one is interested in what u have)
