KT , We have 3 tests vs SL, 3 vs NZ and then 3 vs SA in SA before the WC. Real fun starts posts the 2011 WC, away test series in WI(3 tests) , Eng (4 tests), then a home series vs WI(3 tests) before a away series vs Aus(4 tests) in Dec 2011- Feb 2012. So from now till Feb 2012, i.e. in 2 years time, we will be playing 24 tests.:yay::yay::dance::dance:

Aah! It's Sri Lanka again SL to see plenty of India LOKENDRA PRATAP SAHI Calcutta: Team India will be making two trips to Sri Lanka, for three engagements, in a couple of months from now. According to The Telegraph’s sources in Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the Indians will first feature in the June 15-25 Asia Cup, followed by a triangular, with New Zealand being team No.3, and a three-Test series thereafter. “As the lights at the Premadasa Stadium (Colombo) are being overhauled for the 2011 World Cup, all the Asia Cup matches will be held in Dambulla. That won’t be the case with the tri-series,” one of the SLC sources pointed out. The triangular may be held between July 9-23, with the Tests taking place during the July 28-August 18 window. While Galle is expected to host the first Test, the next two will be in Colombo — at the SSC and the P.Sara Oval. Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Co. resume international commitments with the World T20, in the West Indies, from April 30-May 16. After that will be the tri-series in Zimbabwe, with Sri Lanka being the third team there. Nobody has said anything, not as yet, but it won’t surprise if some of the big names decide to make themselves unavailable for one or both of the triangulars. http://www.telegraphindia.com/1100409/jsp/sports/story_12320359.jsp ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IPL ends on 25th April T20 WC- 30 April to 16 May Zim tri series - End May to early June Asia Cup- 15 to 25 June Sri Lanka Tri series- Jul 9 to23 Sri Lanka test series - Jul 28 to Aug 18 At least 8-9 useless ODI matches with Sri Lanka. Would have been better to have South Africa (who I presume are free for the next 2 months after t20 WC) as one of the other teams in the two tri series. The test series though i something which will be worth watching. Perhaps the time now to win a series in SL.

This was old news and worked out 2 months back that there would be a full series in Lanka again later this year. I am surprised that some guys here were not aware of this schedule which just needed accommodation in the schedule. Yeah it's crazy. Remember after the 1997 boring drawn series, Lanka took a full 8 years [nearly a decade] to play tests in India in 2006. Even more crazy that West Indies played no tests for 8 years from 1994 to 2002 in India. But we toured twice in WI in 1997 & 2001 and also in toured Lanka in 2002 without any reciprocal series. New Zealand played us at home 5 years apart between 1999 & 2004. The only team we played regularly at home was Australia. Even SA toured us at a gap of 5 years for a full test series between 2000 early and late 2005. But we ended up hosting Zimbabwe twice between 2001 & 2003 and toured twice between 2001 & 2005. There was also an overdoes of Pakistan between 2004 to 2008. 4 series [one each year], 2 series each on home and away basis. The ICC FTP programme is really stupid and illogical. Yeah, crazy that we are suddenly playing Lanka at home and away almost annually last 2 years.

I am only happy about seeing more tests even if it's against Lanka. Sachin, Dravid & Laxman's last chance to lay to rest the ghosts of 2007 and win a rubber in Lanka before they retire from tests. except Sachin in 1994, neither Dravid or Laxman have tasted a series victory there.

I don't think Sri Lanka, WI or NZ didn't tour India on purpose, given a choice they would come to India every two years like other teams, rather it was the BCCI which didn't invite them for a series here. Between 2004-2007 the focus was to play a series with Pak every year, with Aus every 2 years and with Eng also every two years. These three series help the BCCI make more money, rest others aren't as lucrative. But looking at the schedule, once we are done with the test series in SL in Aug 2010, thankfully we won't be playing them for a long time.

Tests in SL are OK but there are too many ODIs. It will be interesting if Ind tests its bench strength in those games
