Up next for MS Dhoni and his men are the Sri Lankans. That is in July when India will travel to the island for an unscheduled three-Test series. As first reported by DNA, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been planning to squeeze in as many Test matches as possible to give the team the best possible chance to maintain the No.1 ranking. With Sri Lanka too not scheduled to play any Test till the end of the year, the idea to play a series is mutually beneficial. The series is also likely to give Sachin Tendulkar an opportunity to complete 50 tons in Tests. The exact dates for the Tests will be known later but they are certain to be in late July. For Sri Lanka, though, it will be a back-to-back Test contest against India — their last Test series being against to India in India late last year. The BCCI's plan has been to give at least 10 Tests to the team — the number of matches other top sides like England, Australia and South Africa generally play in a year. Thus, the Lanka series in July serves their purpose. After that, India will play a three-Test home series in November-December against New Zealand. This means they will have played 10 Tests in 2010. The Tests are likely to be followed by a tri-series which may involve New Zealand. While BCCI president Shashank Manohar said that negotiations are on with Cricket Sri Lanka, CSL secretary Nishant Ranatunga told this paper that the series has been finalised. "We have closed the issue. India will be travelling here," he said. Prior to that series, India will play the Asia Cup in the island nation and before that they are likely to visit Zimbabwe for a tri-series that will also involve Sri Lanka. Prior to these assignments, of course, the players will be involved in the IPL followed by World T20 in May. Source: DNA

Precisely why he could do with 3 more tests to reach that 800 number by the time he retires before 2011. The Lankans are also playing hardly any tests this year.

It is not even a match anymore. It is like India A VS India B game. Even Pani puri wala knows how not to play Murali. Indian batsmen has been Lankanized. One of my SriLankan friends say "SLC is BCCI's mitch (start this word with a b)" :haha: They are ready to pleasure BCCI anytime SLC needs money

Panicker is so right about the field settings.I hate it when captains allow a established batsman who is playing with the tail to take easy singles,i think it takes away any confidence of the bowlers in dismissing the set batsman.

Batting line up: Badri should be gone for good. He is a Kaify type a scratcher...enough! Vijay is CLASS! He is a keeper! Ishant is to be beefed up...don't know why no one is mentoring him. Bhajji has corssed over. Mishy is too short to be effective...we need a taller leggie...thoguh he is alright. Sreesanth I have ALWYAS liked. Don't know why people give him a hard time...yeah I know why... Zak needs to get less top heavy in build...more legwork...speed will come up. Rest will do it. Time to beat Lanka at their home!

So What's Next? Is our next tour really in November when we tour SAF? Or will BCCI try to get someone to play us in the summer time? Sadly one of the only teams available in the summar are...Sri Lanka. But I'll take it even if we've played them continously. Right now these teams are scheduled to play for the 2010 season: Tests Bangladesh in England Test Series, May-Jun 2010 South Africa in West Indies Test Series, Jun 2010 Australia v Pakistan Test Series, Jul 2010 (in England) Pakistan in England Test Series, Jul-Aug 2010 We could tour NZ again in April, that's not likely. Maybe Bangladesh or Australia could come over...

Tour to west indies will be boring..though they've got some good youngsters..they won't be a match for the current Indian side...on the flip side however i think it would be a good experience for the west indian boys..and will definitely help in their development.

I know mad noobs are coming here opening new threads. We have 3 match series in SL in July I think. And then we play NZ at home in August for 3 matches/5odis. Next test series is in SAF for 3 test matches. BTW, I heard from somewhere BCCI were gonna try to fit in some test matches during Australia tour of India for 7 odis. Let's see how that goes.

yea i heard that too as they had proposed to both CSA and CA to cut down the meaningless ODIs and include 2 test matches. SA had agreed to it now lets see if the Oz boys have the guts to face us in the real format :D
