WORLD CUP Something he keeps missing everytime. This would be the icing on the cake for him and I believe he will hang his boots in ODIs if he does win the world cup. But the problem for India is their bowling.

1) Motivate Badrinath to convert domestic performances into international ones. 2) Use his influence to ensure Nohit Sharma isn't seen close to the Indian team ever. Oh no wait.....Nohit who just made a 1st ball duck in the vijay hazare trophy followed by a 1 against Tamil Nadu is back for the 3rd ODI

I would love to see Tendulkar be part of a world cup winning team - that's one gap in his resume. Even though winning a cup is not an individual task but it would prove beyond all doubt that SRT is in a different league than Lara or Ponting.

a Test series win in Australia and South Africa.
Ditto, straight.drive! I agree. Contrary to so many people talking about the World Cup, I would value away Test series wins in Australia and South Africa more. But this certainly will not be the popular opinion. Only Tendulkar can say what he feels is more valuable. From 20 years of watching him field questions, I am sure he will find the right, diplomatic thing to say :).

Yep' date=' A test series win SA and Oz is much much more valuable than unpredictable ODI championships..[/quote'] Can Sachin alone win the Wc? Can Sachin alone win a test series in Australia or SA? These two things are certainly for the team to cheive, not an individual batsman! As for me, I will like him to score two tons in one match. He hasn't done it till now. And also 500+ in a test series.

He hasn't got 500 in a series. Hope he targets that 974 record of Bradman for a series :--D
and thats when all those who are comparing him to bradman are gonna run away. sachin cannot hit so many runs. he is consistent over a long period of time... but he never has those super-purple-peaks. as others have also said... we dont have 6 match series anymore.

Oops - slip of the tongue. Should have said - Tendulkar being a part of the series winning Test team on an Australian/South African tour. Maybe if he is also Man of the series - that more than anything is sure to please me :). Oh and all this in a 5 Test series.

I;ve seen many players almost humiliated because they went past their prime and didn't retire and were forced out of the game. Tendulkar has individually accomplished everythign, broken just about every record in the book and scored against everyone everywhere. He should continue while he can maintain this high standard, but the moment he feels that his body is no longer up to the task, he must retire and on his own terms, it would be a tragedy to see a player forced out when they have done so much andf carried so much for so long.

I know. This is not a mandatory requirement as well. He rarely featured in a 5 test series in his career. When he did it was very early in his career.

Make him play with the lalloo bowlers that went around in the 30s and he will bloody never get out .... :cantstop:
yeah the kind of bowlers who say sorry when they bowl a bouncer, consider bowling to a 7-2 field as a crime and never bowl yorkers and bouncers to the 'gentleman' who is just in. ... i dont know about sachin but sehwag will murder them.
