Its obvious the WI batsmen assessed the conditions such as slow outfield and green, slow wicket and settled for 240+ hence the slow start. Just because your used to watching ODI's in India where you put your front foot forward and swing and 300+ is a minimum.

Fidel will take at least a year to be back but it is not certain if he will be able to hit the 90mph as often as he did in the past. Taylor should be back for the SA series.

Seamers Darren Sammy and Kemar Roach ripped through the Zimbabwe batting line-up after a Shivnarine Chanderpaul half-century had helped West Indies to a solid 245 for nine from their allotted 50 overs. Openers Chris Gayle (33) and Adrian Barath (35) gave the home side a steady start before Chanderpaul and Denesh Ramdin put on 65 for the third wicket and Dwayne Bravo led a late flurry to boost the total. But the game was won with the pace of Roach (3-28) and the intelligent medium pace of Sammy (4-26) with Hamilton Masakadza (35) the only Zimbabwe batsman to establish himself. Zimbabwe made a decent start and reached 51 inside 10 overs before the second wicket fell. The tourists never recovered though from the loss of four wickets for seven runs with Sammy and Roach taking full advantage of a wicket which offered help to the seamers. Sammy would have had five wickets had Gayle not dropped a relatively straightforward catch at slip, having earlier taken a superb one-handed grab to dismiss Greg Lamb off Roach. "It was definitely a team effort and I am very happy with the result," said Gayle. "Well done Darren Sammy, he could have got five wickets and it was my fault he didn't. "I am sure Zimbabwe will come back hard at us on Friday and we shouldn't get carried away now." Chris Gayle's men won by four wickets in the fifth and final one-day international but limped to their victory target after initially impressing with the ball, dismissing the tourists for just 161. Charles Coventry was the only batsman to make a significant contribution for Zimbabwe with 56. In reply, man of the match Gayle led the way with a typically explosive 63 although it took a robust 36 from Kieron Pollard to nudge the Windies over the line. Zimbabwe recovered from a woeful start to at least make a total which made the home side sweat. At 5-25 it did not look as though the tourists would get anywhere near 161, but a battling effort from Coventry and useful contributions from most of the lower order got them out of jail. Darren Sammy and Ravi Rampaul ran through the Zimbabwe batting line-up early on to further dent the confidence of a side which had already conceded the series after going 3-1 down heading into the last match. Coventry came in with his side on the ropes but slowly set about rebuilding the innings. His 88-ball knock was steady rather than flamboyant but just what his team needed. He received valuable support from Elton Chigumbura (19), Greg Lamb (16) and Graeme Cremer (19 not out). Sammy was the pick of the Windies attack with 3-33 while Rampaul took 2-24. And with Gayle in full flow it looked as though his side would clinch victory in quick time. But he received precious little support from the rest of the top order with Adrian Barath and Darren Bravo both making just 14. By the time Bravo departed, Gayle had already been and gone. His whirlwind innings lasted 41 balls and included eight fours and two sixes. Denesh Ramdin dropped anchor in a bid to see his side home although Zimbabwe remained in the hunt after dismissing Narsingh Deonarine (three) and Bravo (nought). With Ramdin holding up one end with a patient 21 not out, Pollard decided attack was the best policy. And he set about the Zimbabwe bowling from the off, blasting three fours and three sixes in a fearsome exhibition of power hitting. He was finally out with just nine more needed and Ramdin and David Bernard did the honours to spark some wild celebrations among the home crowd.
