Countdown is on :two_thumbs_up: This is the place to discuss your favourite team(s), their prospects, who'll be in the squad, how they will line-up, etc. Oh, and if you don't like the real football, STAY THE EFF OUT OF THIS THREAD!!!! Socceroos fans hoping to at least emulate the effort of the last WC (Round of 16) may be disappointed. :sniffle: Germany, Ghana and Serbia is pretty much close to being the "Group of Death". But anyway... I wouldn't expect too many domestically (A-League) based players to be selected, aside from the obvious - Culina, and maybe Sterjovski, Burns and Coyne. Sydney FC's Alex Brosque and Simon Colosimo are other possibilities. Archie Thompson is a longshot - a class above at A-League level, but several classes below international standard. The main worry is that the bulk of the squad will be almost exactly the same as at the last World Cup - so they'll be four years older, and several yards slower. Few players have really stepped up to demand inclusion ahead of the usuals, and there isn't much quality coming through, so qualification for Brazil in four years' time will be problematical.
