They weren't alive when he played either.
Look Bradman may be the greatest batsman of all time. But not by such a huge margin as their stats suggests. And regarding aussie thing, i regard Glenn Mcgrath as the greatest bowler ever

Not bad, you would say, for someone who plays domestic cricket rarely and even when he does it is usually a knockout match against a good first class team.

this topic has been done to death soo many times but FWIW heres the full list of reasons why DGB cant be simply considered beyond question ... 1. Lack of quality strike bowlers (As in sub 25 avg , sub 55-60 strike rate ) 2. No real super fast express bowlers who bowl regularly in the 87+ mph category 3. Lack of quality spinners 4. Never played in India, Pak, SL, SAF,WI (in fact he played in a grand total of 10 grounds in his entire career .... 5 each in Eng & Aus) 5. Never tested against reverse swing. 6. Advantage of lax fielding standards. 7. Advantage of playing just one format of the game. 8. Advantage of numerous first class tour matches throughout the tour ( compare that to Indias recent tour of Australia where the only practice match was by and large washed out ) 9. No taxing travel schedules. 10. Batsman friendly lbw law and umpires being very pro-batsman for lbws. More discussion can be found here in this thread: http://indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=97689&page=7 PS : I think the mods should think about making one big Bradman-vs-ModernBatsmen thread by moving such posts from various threads and archiving it for easy access. :--D
GOD forbid if Sehwag was let loose on these bowlers :omg: :nervous:

Hi there. I find this argument vastly amusing. The first thing that comes to mind when I think about this is if bradman was up against such substandard bowling, why did no one else do what he did? In those days, the bowlers were high class, make no mistake. The ball used to swing and dart around like no ones business, especially after rain. Covered pitches, body armour, superior bats ( the old ones used to jar your hand if you miss hit, remember that?) roped in boundaries superior facilities I could go on. These days yes, the fielders are better in general. There are some bowlers around now who have amazing strike rates, this also reflects the attacking nature of batting in this day and age. The game has changed. Helmets and covered pitches made sure of that. Technique is no longer paramount. It's why a lot of batsman are being found out these days, look at Ponting's pullshot, personally I don't think he is very good at it, he hits it in the air 90 percent of the time, and most pundits think he is the best in the world at it. No, If Bradman was around these days, there would be more defensive fields, so his massive scores would have been smaller. But he would have scored more centuries. The age old traits of not hitting the ball in the air still matter, humans have not evolved so far in 70 years that they can see better than they used to. Bradman was a champion. So is Tendulkar. But He isn't in Bradman's league, no one is or has been. look at the slow mo clip of his cover drive carefully. He was amazing. Tendulkar I am a big fan of, He is the modern day great. Lara i think was on a level field with him. The thing though is you really can't compare the modern age with the old one, simply because the game is totally different. I believe Tendulkar's average would have been less than it is now, simply because of the conditions. Everyone's average would have been less. The definitive proof would be to ask Sachin himself what he thinks. I already know the answer, he would say Bradman was the greatest batsman of all time. -Tim

If a student scores 99 out of 100 in class 4 and all his classmates are dumb' date=' that doesn't mean he is better than a student who scores 56 out of 100 in maths olympiad.[/quote'] Except that he didn't score 99 out of 100 in class 4. He also scored in maths olympiad. So your argument :fail: What is next your physics teacher is better than ALbert Einstein coz he can do something Einstein couldn't do?

How you can say any sportsman from the 30s is better then modern sportsmen is madness personified.
Dude lot of scientists, inventors, architects were born 50,100 years back. Just because you can toast a pizza you cannot say you are better than them

^WTF has scientists got to do with anything:hysterical: Check out how europeans used to dominate long distance running. Then Africa discovered atletics and the rest is history. Same with cricket and the closed shop it used to be

Also check put the times of runners in 30s and compare them now. Things have improved massivley and thimes have changed. Same in cricket, Bradman would be hopeless now in reality. That is the reality no matter how uncomfortable it would be for some to face that fact.

Probably would average 150. :winky:

Is that why he scored a fat Zero in the simple olympiad test posted in post#105 ?
That is not olympiad test. That is more a test conceived by delusional individual which is not going to be attended by anyone except other delusional individuals.
