To the old school fans like Boss, Lurker, etc - please keep adding to this thread over the next 42 days and give us some GOOD quality cricket to enjoy; quality players and moments in the great sport so nobody is forced into watching the s-hit and giggle nonsense and losing a few brain cells. graphic will start us off with some gems. :hail: Hail to the g for inspiring this idea by sending me clips of the Kolkata magic over gmail. :hail: [FYI: Off-topic/trolling posts deemed as such by EMC will be deleted. Keep the jokes in the relevant forums.]

Let's start off with India's greatest bowler :hail: [ame=

Anil Kumbles Magic 500[/ame] And then again :D [ame=
Australia vs India 2007 - Anil Kumble's 600th Test Wicket[/ame] I watched the second one live. It was a hell of a moment for me - particularly considering what happened through the tour and that test match. :hail: :--D

So what counts as proper cricket? Timeless tests? 4 ball overs? 5 ball overs or 8 ball overs? How about ODI cricket - 60 overs, 50 overs? Is that proper enough? :hmmm:

Boss... any anecdotes from your experience re. Ghavri? Heard a few stories about him from Gaurang (or KDG - Ghavri's initials) in the past... one of those players I wish I could have seen playing a fair bit more.

There's no proper, improper cricket. There's only cricket some people like, which some others may not like. So lets keep it real before we go overboard with this 'proper cricket' stuff. I like test cricket much much more than T20 cricket, which is probably I watched EVERY ball of the test series between the no.1 ranked India and no.10 ranked B'desh, while I dont feel any urge to follow IPL at all. But I am not going to overboard and call this as proper cricket and that as tamasha cricket. The game's bigger than any fan, not vice versa.

Some forms of cricket emphasize skills and abilities that mark the best cricketers out from others. Other forms appeal to a lower common denominator, both in terms of fans and players, allowing for more mediocre, bits and pieces players to shine. If you find them equal, you're welcome to your opinion though plenty of experienced fans and connoisseurs of the game would disagree.

Ahhhh Curtley .... what a bowler he was .... I could watch that guy nonstop for hours ....
Got any more vids to offer? :D more WI pace goodness. MhYnYbvF9fo

Who said I find it equal? I've already made it abundantly clear - I prefer test cricket to any other form. But to call one particular form the 'proper form', while ridiculing the other is donning a larger-than-life that none of us fans are entitled to. History will be judge of what is proper and improper, not fans living in the present.
