Bumper Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Sigh ! the power of brainwashing. During DGBs times there were a grand total of 38 players who played test cricket after the age of 40yrs. For the last decade that number is a grand total of One player (Alec Stewart) . If this stat doesnt tell you the state of affairs then nothing else will .... and Iam sure it will be pretteeeee easy for me to sell that bridge next to your house to you ... it was ***ing built in that era too ... Wow, is this true ? :omg: How can a sport that was played by a handful of countries have 38 players over 40 ? Says a lot about the competitive nature of cricket back then..

The resident docs can shed more light on this. Then again the Doctors in That era should have differ this opinion.. We may havt to debate Which era doctors are great :winky:

Michael Jordan played basketball for the Washington Wizards as he was approaching 40. So whats your point ? Can you point me to a competitive team sport in the modern world where 38 players are over 40 ? The funny thing is that given the no. of players who played the game, 38 must have been a big proportion of the player count back then.

Which edition of wisden was it that you first read of Lohmann and then from there decided that Lohmann is the greates bowler ever?
