No doubt he is the greatest ever. The stats prove it!! As he has unbelievable average of 10 and strike rate of 34. Thus in terms of average and strike rate he is top of the stats pile in both! Thats right this wicket machine had an average of 10!!!! Beat that Mcgrath!!! All hail Lohmann geatest bowler ever. Yeah so what if he bowled in 1890s, as cricket was just as good as then and frankly was more competitive. Stats prove it. He probably played against WG Grace!!! Wow what an era!! Bradman is lucky he never faced this legend as he would have taught that aussie a lesson! I have never seen him play and have never seen tv footage of him. But that does not matter as read memoirs of some aussie who played against him in 1890s and he said he was good! Apparently he bowled medium pace. I know this as just checked on cricinfo. He also proves that don't need pace bowlers, as the greatest bowler ever was a gentle medium pacer, thus the paks are wrong and we should perserve with our trundlers, recall for Pathan is a must now. Not sure if he bowled under arm or over arm, if he bowled under arm then we should instruct our bowelrs to do so straight away for T 20 world cup. In the list of averages the first modern name to appear is Malcolm Marshall. As Marshall had a pathetic average in comparison to Lohmann of 21. That means Lohmann was actually twice as good as Marshall. If you put 1896 Lohmann in a time machin and played him tommorow against India his stats show that he would bowl India out for around 150 according to my calculations if you had another legend from ancient times in tandemn from maybe 1905! Lohmann only ever played against Aus and SA. This in my mind makes him even greater! Not sure why but it does. So its official 1896 Lohmann from England is the greatest bowler ever!!! The stats prove it conclusivley!!!

How dare you!!! Lohmann is the master, the greatest. He has an average of 10!!!! 10 for gods sake!!!! TEN!!!!! Mcgrath, Marshall , Holding, Lillee, Imran Khan and Pathan are not fit to lick his boots. The guy is a legend. Top of averages and strike rates. I can't believe his name has not been mentioned on this site before. I feel priviliged to unveil Lohmann as greatest ever. GEORGE LOHMANN (hope I spelt his name correct, better double check on cricinfo). The greatest bowler ever. p.e nearly fainted when saw his stat busting average of 10. Frigging legend

That is over a span of 18 tests. There are atleast a dozen bowlers who over a length of 18 tests are comparable to that. Bradman's average of about 100 is over 52 tests. Do you understand the difference. Find me no more than 3 who average even 70, over a sustained 52 tests run. Else give up your silly arguments.

The batting/bowling average during Lohmann's time was 19, around 10-12 below what it has been for the last 90 years or so. It's but natural deduction that the best bowler of that time will average 10-12 less than the best bowlers of the last 90 years (who average in the low to mid 20s).

The again, during Bradman's time, you can count on your finger tips, the number of batsmen who averaged 50+ , let alone a staggering near 100 average. SRT does not even average 60 in first class cricket.

what you have done there is 1. twisted the argument supplied by those who are pro-Bradman (you made a mockery of your ability to grasp) 2. presented it along the lines used by those who are pro-Tendulkar (made a mockery of those pro-Tendulkar fanboys, which defeats the purpose of this thread) This also shows what those who believe that Bradman is the greatest batsman are up against. Not long ago, Bossbhai started a thread on his '10 points', ignoring the fact that not many really argued those points but said that they are irrelavant considering the huge difference b/w the averages of Bradman and Sachin as even if we account for all those, Bradman would still be ahead. And ofc the factors that favored Bradman were never considered But that's another story

His average is 20% better then next on list and 50% better then 3rd on list. That is domination on mass scale. No one can dispute that Stat Lohmann you friggin legend. Greatest ever
And Bradman's ( who played 52 tests) average is 80 % more than pauper Tendulkar.:--D. What scale does this domination fit into ? :omg:

That's friggin 56% greater than the next best. The Mumbaikar in question is not even better averagewise compared to hsi peers, let alone being so massively superior on such a " mass scale" ( > 56%). :nervous:
