The absurdity behind nominating Lara as the best batsman of his generation

He's a Pak fan...I wouldn't expect anything else from him!

:hysterical: if i was anti tendulkar or anti india then i would have put him below lara even or not put him altogether!! And i also gave reasoning for it. My reason was that both are unbelievably great batsmen but as a cricket fan I personally had more fun and entertainment watching Ponting in full flow than Tendulkar. there are innings of tedulkar where he has scored big but ive got really bored watching him. but this is not the case with tendulkar. So if i have to pay money to watch someone it would be first ponting then tendulkar then lara and its my personal reason and i am not forcing it on anyone

There is a major flaw in that. You've got to be able to differentiate between players who you like to watch and players who are the best in the business. I loved watching Gower, Crowe and Junior. That doesn't mean that that I rate them higher than Kallis (whose batting I dislike). Looking at your post, I'm guessing that you're a recent cricket fan (post-2000).

Lara was far better batsman and also more pleasing to eye when in full flow. Most neutral fans rate Lara ahead of Tendulkar. Sachin failed most great fast bowlers of 90s.

Abey Jaa......Pakistani ko pata bhi hai batting kis vhidiya ka naam hai???? Its Tendulkar Bradman and then the rest..... Tendulkar avgs a minimum of 40 anywhere he has ever played.....not like your HTBs like Inzy and Miandad who piss in their pants when playing outside Pakistan.

Yeah as im 19 i started watching it seriously in l2001-02.. but wats that got to do with what im saying. i still watched 10 years of tendulkar and ponting and 7 years of lara

If Lara was an Indian and Tendulkar played for the WI, he would rate Tendulkar higher than Lara. Funny comment on a Pak forum.... How can a player who never won a WC be the greatest batsman? Two posts later (same chap).... Lara is the greatest batsman and Kallis is the greatest currently playing. His average is higher than Tendulkar's. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

It's obvious they have an axe to grind against Sachin for some odd reason, a huge majority of them have refused to admit that SRT really is the greatest living batsman- and this has been going on for years now. It's getting tiresome. The Waughs, McGraths, Sobers', and Vivian Richards' of the world have all said what they think about this little guy. Hell, even Lara himself said that Sachin was the best :cantstop: I doubt a few vitriolic words from a bunch of sissies across the border will diminish Sachin's contributions to world cricket.

Batting is not all about flair, strokes, and strike rates.....ON flat beds anyone can score...Younis khan has amazing records against Indian on flat beds......Its all about how a batsman deal with pressure situations, different conditions, rough patches come out of top, help the team win matches especially test matches....which SRT has done numerous times...latest SA test series is a mere example of that...... I accept I was not a big fan of SRT 2-3 years back, but he converted me certainly after his come back from a rough patch and how he still has the hunger to survive in tough conditions for Team India and score runs. 2006-2007 was his rough patch but since CB series in Australia he never looked back and I do not think any 37 year old batsman could bat better than what he has done.......:hatsoff:
