You did not name Rahul Dravid. He is the best close-in fielder i have seen played for India after Akash CHopra..Chopra was brilliant whenever he played.....Mohd. Kaif is a good outfielder bt not a gud close-in fielder.....

Jaffar was good. Ramesh was also good. But I have seen old highlights of the wonder years and it has to be Eknath Solkar who is the greatest. .

I think Akash Chopra has been pretty good in the recent memory, as had been Dravid. My cousins are old enough, and per them, fortunate enough, to have watched the close in fielding of Eknath Solkar. They say his reflexes were exceptional and that they haven't seen one like him at the Silly Point / Forward Short Leg position in the world, leave alone India. Some of the catches that he took were not really catches for a majority of fielders. So I guess, for a lot of people who saw Eknath Solkar field to the famous spin quartet consider him as the best close in fielder.

Eknath Solkar was like Johnty Rhodes at Backward Point.Terrific, have not seen him, but heard a lot about him. But as far as i have seen, Aakash Chopra and Sanjay Manjerakar were good.Gautam and Vijay are good too.But the best was Eknath Solkar, and current best or the best that i have seen, is Sanjay Manjerakar
