Kevin Pietersen forced to play against will after bomb rocks IPL stadium

KEVIN PIETERSEN was forced against his wishes to play a match in the Indian Premier League after two explosions near an entrance to Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy stadium yesterday injured 10 people, including four policemen and a security guard. A third bomb was found and defused. The blasts, 45 minutes before the scheduled start of the IPL fixture, threw into doubt the match between Pietersen’s Bangalore Royal Challengers and Mumbai Indians, but organisers went to the dressing rooms and demanded a vote among the players. The Indian players said they would play while the overseas stars showed much more concern. Pietersen, inset, and his Bangalore teammate Jacques Kallis were said to be “massively unhappy” with this way of dealing with the matter, which went against the agreed protocol of following specialist security advice. The match went ahead one hour late. Bangalore, for whom Pietersen scored 21 and took 1-10 from one over, lost by 57 runs and must now wait on results to see if they reach the semi-finals — both of which are due to be staged in Bangalore, also the venue for England’s first World Cup match next February. Last night Pietersen was reviewing his participation in the IPL. Bob Nicholls, head of IPL security firm Nicholls Steyn, was on the ground but heard only later about the vote. A source from Fica, the players’ global union, said: “Nowhere in the Nicholls Steyn plan for dealing with such incidents does it say that the players should decide whether a match goes ahead.” None of the players knew the third device was defused near another gate after the match began. The protocol in a bomb attack is for the stadium to be evacuated and the teams to be removed from the city. The 30,000 crowd was not told of the explosions.

This is the shocking part. The 30,000 crowd was not told of the explosions.
Do you want a stampede? I wouldnt be surprised. Evacuations are like unheard of in India. Saying nothing is a much better way of contolling the crowd rather then hell being let loose across the ground. imo everything was handled perfectly except that incident between the international players.

The match should have been postponed/canceled. What if a bomb had gone off during the exit of the crowd after the end of the match?
I disagree. Bomb was found outside the stadium. So it was necessary to check the stadium before evacuating them. My only concern is 30000 people didn't hear the explosion?

it seems that you are upset for match being not canceled
:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: I think Bangalore police and IPL authorities did absolutely the right thing by letting the match go on .. read the comments in that article too and all the UK people are also saying the match should go on .. if you succumb to terrorist ploys then you are accepting defeat and giving them encouragement .. feck the **** out of terrorists ... consensus is a fair method and I dont see anything wrong in it .. BRC players were cry babies including Kumble who said they were disturbed .. on the other hand look MI players who did not give a **** about anything .. anyways many of the internationals are WI players who never give a **** about all these and were the first to support IPL in India this year .. others are mostly Lankans who anyways have faced LTTE for ages .. MI are a strong unit both mentally and in performance and they are progressing .. BRC are cry babies and hence struggling Regarding Kallis and KP, feck them .. the situation in SA is not any good either and FIFA had always been telling about the security in SA .. but we supported them always and L Modi even took on FIFA for SA's sake

So why did Kevin Pietersen continue to be a part of the English Ashes squad in 2005 despite the 7/7 London bombings? Hypocrite.
exactly .. and they were playing matches even in the same city London after the 7/7 serial bombings .. that is what is called hypocrisy .. English and Australians are the biggest hypocrites in the cricketing world .. Australia also kept on playing the Ashes series instead of the serial bombings and they are cry babies when it comes to India

BTW I have to accept the English media too.. they are no less masala than Indian media .. "forced to play" is the title and then it goes on saying there was a vote whether they should play .. that is what you call masala stories .. and there is not even a single quote from KP in that article .. lol

Guys, KP does not deserve this flak. I'm sure he is entitled to his opinion. After all, he would have been a sitting duck if the ****ers had planned something bigger than this. To put things in perspective, KP was the team captain, when England decided to come back to India to play the 2 test matches right after the Mumbai attacks. How many teams would have shown the guts to tour a country, a couple of week after something like the Mumbai attacks?

They are the worst. Probably the only national media playing a hand in getting a person, who was THEIR Princess may I add, killed
