Is it to hide the obvious flaws or is it being symbolic of the chaos take place in that shot or to bring out some kind of realism in that scene. Add to that the crazy editing they do with a shot lasting not even a second. :mad:

Add to that the crazy editing they do with a shot lasting not even a second. :mad: i think it is to add some realism to the action sequence... made popular by the first battle sequence in 'saving private ryan'. But i think it has been overdone in the bourne movies - specially the third part. a lot of people complained of feeling sick.

It's far more difficult than perfect framing which you can learn easily. It takes exceptional expertise to do it right. However a lot of directors who associate great value to aesthetics and believe in dreamy film making consider imperfect framing is the only way. In India the only director who uses imperfect framing in a somewhat effective way is RGV. Contrary to that, a Sanjay Leela Bhansali believes in absolute perfect framing. He completely loathes imperfect framing. If you watch their movies, you will easily see the difference in the moods. Also, imperfect framing is used by a lot of inefficient directors to hide their mistakes. It makes action scenes look faster. A typical example of bad use of imperfect framing is Transformers2. Seriously overdone. But I think it was well used in Bourne Supremacy. I loved all three Bourne movies. Now waiting for Bourne Legacy. I have already read the novel.

It is also a DV but has better resolution. The major advantage with RED is that editing can be done on spot. That is after the shot has been completed... within 10 minutes you will know how its going to appear on screen.

He added that they did the editing on a daily basis if not it would have been a damn difficult job had they done it after shooting the entire film.
