Freedom Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Thats because he relies on our Phaaaaaaaast bowling. Crap. I'm done following Indian T20 team.
kabira Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 when I heard we won the toss again and opted to field, I was devastated, even more when I heard that its same XI. Why on the earth you would bowl first with 2 seamers and not even bowl them. That was his first mistake. Another mistake, he keeps on telling hte world we are batting heavy, ofcourse we are, but they can't chase over par scores every time. We do have bowlers, so why don't give them confidence. Why you would only go with 3 frontline bowlers. The bhajji bowled brillantly as he turning the ball. He could easily have gone with Chawla or Vinay Kumar. 4th/5th bowlers cost us thsi game. Even after opting to field first, we could have chased 150-160, that was chaseable. Dhoni needs to rest, Go to the Beach and get away from cricket. He has been captaining pressure games of T20 for past month and half.
yoda Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I think Dhoni is confused having to lead two different T20 teams one after the other. I guess things which worked for him and CSK aren't working here. Also, the IPL was a very forgiving format unlike this one.
asterix Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Agree Dhoni should leave T20 for younger lot. He is actually hurting Indian's chances. That's two consequtive T20 WCs and counting..
Ranjha Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Dhoni will not rest until he proves a point and keep chasing until he wins a game...
TheWall Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Dhoni will not rest until he proves a point and keep chasing until he wins a game... when??????:omg:
saneindian Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 If we bat first at Barbados then will our batsmen suddenly develop a technqiue to play the pacers? They will be as clueless as they have been. Fact is 169 was chaseable yesterday, if only we hadn't given up after losing 2 initial wickets. Dhoni is in better form than Yuvi and needs to bat ahead of him. On the captancy issues, give this bunch of crap bowlers to any other captain and he will quit in 2 months. Bhajji economical but no wickets in 4 matches, Zak 1 wicket in 3 matches. Nehra has been the only saving grace here.

He should be given free license to smash everything...You dont want players like Yuvraj to come in at 30 for 3 and not play freely. This is a major flaw. Let him score runs or get out or drop him but no point sending him down the order.
kabira Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 no totally wrong 169 was above par. even Lankans found that out. 150 is par score and can be chased.
Ahmed Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Some errors made by captain/management. They should have played Chawla instead of Jadeja. on these tracks you need speciallist spinners, not part-timers like raina, pathan and jadeja. The other thing is that India should have batted first, once you have 150+ on the board the other team is under preassure right away. But it is clearly not Dhoni's fault that your batsman can't play short-pitched deliveries. Muralia Vijay is simply not suited for this kind of format, in IPL you meet some poor bowlers and the pitches are belters, here you only face good bowlers and you have to respect them up front. Even if India were 30-0 after 6 overs they could have cashed in.
gaurav92 Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Can't blame MSD if our players are not capable to bat and score a 170 under batting friendly conditions. If we had batted first, their seamers would have knocked us out for 125-130
asterix Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Come what may..If the winning percentage of al the teams batting first on these pitches is more than batting second, then Dhobi should've have batted first. Our batsmen suck while batting first but they suck more when chasing under pressure. There is a catalog of errors of Dhobi and batting second after winning the toss is one of them. Not playing another specialist spinner is another. I can bet Chawla can bat better than Bhikhari and even field better. Dhobi was entirely focussing on preventing runs in the powerplay overs and losing out and getting thrashed in non-powerplay overs.. He does learns from his mistakes but only little bit as his massive ego prevents him to accept his mistakes. He wastes Bhajji's full quota in saving his **** in the powerplay overs on these pitches.
youngindia Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 why chase unless we have to? last two matches, dhoni has decided to chase in a defnsive move. but chasing means a different psychology for the batsmen.it is PRESSURE. pressure makes batsmen often make poor or less than ideal choices which can result in downfall. while setting a target, our batsmen can play optimum cricketing shots and make judicious shot selections. but while chasing, you often see batsmen trying to be muscle men instead of playing proper cricketing shots as they do normally .Or make idiotic shot selections they normally would not. the psychology is entirely different when you are facing a steep asking rate, that's the difference. its not enuf for dhoni to say "170 is a gettable tagrget". but there was pressure chasing it and pressure resulted in our batsmen making sub par shots(barring gambhir) and poor choices. he has to learn this - do not chase unless we have to.
someone Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Youngindia, you probably lack knowledge of cricket, there is no rules or law of higher chance of winning when batting first. You are just saying this based on hindsight which is absolutely stupid of yourself. You talk about pressure but do you not know there will be pressure on the opponents to bowl well in the beginning or else the match will be lose early for them. Moreover, now the batsman can pace their innings and not have a gung ho approach. Stop blaming little decsions, we lost because of only two reasons first, the opponents played better than us, secondly, middle overs bowling and more importantly lack of opening partnership which would have built momentum to have a big innings
youngindia Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Youngindia' date=' you probably lack knowledge of cricket, there is no rules or law of higher chance of winning when batting first. hari504504 Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 On the moist pitch...batting first the Windies bowlers would've rolled us over in under 45 mins for a score of say....70 !!!
