Reactions to South Africa's defeat in yet another ICC event

IMHO.. Saffers did not turn up for this event. They looked more jet lagged than our indian rock stars... All they could muster was a win against Afghans (not even convincing) and a okay sort of win against the kiwis.. They looked clueless for most part

One country blames IPL or excess of match - hence the fatigue One country blames IPL for no match practice Actually whats the real problem with IPL. You play in IPL u gave problem. you dont play you have problem

Different ways of looking at the same league. We Indians whine endlessly of a league which has changed the face of cricket. And rather being the country which benefits the most from it, we decide to sit in a corner, with a batli in hand and mourn about fatigue and this and that. Rather than getting selections right, we chose to pick injured players. Thats not the IPL's fault.

it is not white and black.. playing IPL is good but playing IPL right before a major tournament is not.. we had a freaking 5 days off in between these two... it is obviously bad.. travelling must be painful for any players especially foreigners.. BCCI needs to manage IPL schedule properly..

Parnell absense was major blow for SA this WC. He was 2nd best death bowler after Gul in 2009 WC. Parnell was injured in IPL so SA are right in blaming bollywood tamasha league for their poor performance.

That is plain rubbish reasoning..If I do this at work I would get fired in no time! People blaming IPL need to look no further than Australia... all their star performers were strutting around in IPL..Watto,Tait,Warner,D.Hussey,Nannes !!!... infact I shudder to think if they had Bollinger in their squad instead of Ryan Harris

IPL is just being scapegoated for the poor show for these 2 sides. The bottom line is they played sh*t, and they played crap becuase they were ill prepared. Poor team selection and also lack of effort on the players part to prepare themselves against the short ball is probably the main reason we're out. I think rather than dwelling on the exit, it would be wiser for selectors and players to admit that they *****ed up and move on, hopefully with a keen eye to improve their weaknesses.

[/quote'] and why they were ill prepared?? cuz of they didnt get enough time to gel with other players.. PK got injured cuz of IPL... Veeru was out too.. lot of them carried fatigue and injurries through IPL.. its easy to sit here and say IPL didnt efffect.. but when you actually play 14 games + travelling + Parties..+ functions, it takes lot out of you..

This is one of the reason why they should have gone with a total rookie side like under-19 side or something. Atleast they won't have to worry about test match schedules, ODI series schedules.

If you had quoted my full response you would have seen why I said they were ill prepared.

The South African response especially Smith's in the post match presentation was puzzling. They lost to India in the preliminary stages where India had a good day. Then they lost to an inspired Pakistan. This is nothing for them to hang their heads and to think about replacing players like Kallis. That would be nothing short of stupid.
