nballa Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/mike_atherton/article7128393.ece There is one other reason, though, why, regardless of what happened yesterday, the achievements of Collingwood’s team would not have gone down in English folklore: people do not generally regard this England team as an “English†team. What is English is a profoundly difficult question and, as a liberally minded chap, I am happy that England’s “foreign legion†have the opportunity and freedom to make their careers here. In that sense, the team do reflect something of the country. he is talking about ravi bopara here.
Serani Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 In fact I do actually wonder how you get any sense of racism from that little excerpt, he says he is liberal and is pleased that england gives players an opportunity. And how he is talking about ravi bopara I do not now, Ravi Bopara is not "foreign"
achilles Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Ofcourse its liberal to be pwned by one's own countryman. And just what wrong has the ball-tamperer said? Ps- Seems to be happening very often. First it was Nasser and Vaughan on Broad-tampering and now this.
Bublu Bhuyan Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/mike_atherton/article7128393.ece he is talking about ravi bopara here. Their champion batsman himself is a Saffer.
Guest Gunner Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/mike_atherton/article7128393.ece he is talking about ravi bopara here. Utter drivel. There is nothing racist about what Athers said there. In fact on air yesterday Nass echoed his views on multi-culturalism when he asked Bishop about the number of saffers playing in the English team. Please don't incite hatred on the MB.
hari504504 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 What about the saffer legion..lol...(Imagine if Pietersen and Keiswetter in particular played for South Africa - that would've been SOME TEAM!)... Swann is Irish too... Its not just Bopara he;s talking about
vvvslaxman Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Don't find anything racist here. But lot of rubbish i find in your conclusion.
hari504504 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 My Aussie colleagues are out there ranting that finally South Africa won a Worldcup they so badly deserved after all these years
Serani Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 What about the saffer legion..lol...(Imagine if Pietersen and Keiswetter in particular played for South Africa - that would've been SOME TEAM!)... Swann is Irish too... Its not just Bopara he;s talking about What? Swann is not Irish and he is NOT talking about Bopara at all, Bopara is more english than most of the team.
Gunner_Mania Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/mike_atherton/article7128393.ece he is talking about ravi bopara here. But the public are not fools. They know that Collingwood’s team are not representative of the health of the English game in general, and that without Michael Lumb, Craig Kieswetter, Eoin Morgan and Kevin Pietersen, who learnt their cricket elsewhere, England’s batting would have a far more anaemic look. In that sense, they will not be loved as the heroes of ’66 were. This is the next paragraph of that article. So where exactly did you read Ravi Bopara. He could also be talking about Eoin Morgan being Irish & not English. So stop jumping to conclusions
hari504504 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 What? Swann is not Irish and he is NOT talking about Bopara at all' date= Bopara is more english than most of the team. alright..half Irish. !!.. he's not 100% english anyway...
achilles Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 My Aussie colleagues are out there ranting that finally South Africa won a Worldcup they so badly deserved after all these years I wasn't around when you heard this but I can believe you. :giggle: Bopara is more english than most of the team. Agreed :bhangra:
achilles Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 alright..half Irish. !!.. he's not 100% english anyway... Who is, mate? Maybe Broad, Anderson... who else
Serani Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 This seems like some kind of attempt to stir up some kind of racial discussion!
Guest Gunner Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 This seems like some kind of attempt to stir up some kind of racial discussion! Yeah I know so, considering that the poster is a Paki.
Gunner_Mania Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Why doesn't anybody say that since England colonised South Africa all the white Saffers playing there are English :hmmm:
hari504504 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Who is' date=' mate? Maybe Broad, Anderson... who else[img']http://indiancricketfans.com/images/smilies/gtnsmilies/hmmmm.gif Graeme Swann...
Guest Gunner Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Why doesn't anybody say that since England colonised South Africa all the white Saffers playing there are English :hmmm: Because Jacques Kallis etc are afrikaaners. :aetsch:
achilles Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Why doesn't anybody say that since England colonised South Africa all the white Saffers playing there are English :hmmm: :haha: We are Brown Brits too :hitler: :giggle:
