Managalore has an aiport? An international one at that ? Holy Crap ! I will tell you what I once landed in Madurai in an AirBus -- the plane absolutely had to touchdown within 10 inches from where the run way started and -- it stopped like 10 inches from the other end of the run way. Scared the hell out of me! No room for error what so ever !

What annoys me how the plane crashed. "over shot the runway" WTF??? What kind of pilots are they? If it wasnt the pilots fault then there has to be some sort mechanical fault, which the blame goes to Air India. Not surprised that the plane belonged to AI, this bound to happen with their dhabba planes.

Relax, don't blame the pilots right away Few contradictory reports ATC shouldn't have given clearance to land as it wasn't clear visiblity Rain Factor Main Pilot was Russian ( his error ) Mechanical Fault ( this is a a new advanced aircraft )

According to the reports as updated in rediff "Initial reports suggest that the left wing of the plane hit a pole and this may have caused the crash. D B Sadananda Gowda, member of Parliament who is at the spot told rediff.com that the information that he has been getting from the officials suggested that the pilot was unable to land the plane and hence he tried to take off again and while trying to do so, the left wing hit a pole as a result of which the plane burst into flames. Further officials also said that it requires a lot of precision to land at the Mangalore airport since it has a table top runway and is located on top of a hill. " :((
