He very rarely beats the bat on a defensive shot. thats also the reason he sledom picks up more than 1-2 wickets in ODIs. I doubt his bowling will be effective in the test format

Sources said Tuesday that Butt was always on the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) radar for the captaincy assignment and after a prolific showing in the recently-concluded World Twenty20 championship in England, the Lahore-based player has improved his chances of becoming the Pakistan captain.
