Feed Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 LAHORE – Pakistan T20 captain Shahid Afridi, Saturday, announced his availability for the longer version of the game, putting an end to all the speculation of his retirement. In the fresh announcement, Afridi would be the front-runner to lead the team in Test cricket and another aspirant Salman Butt, who was being dubbed as the next Test captain, would have to wait for his turn. However, the captain of the Pakistan cricket team for the Asia Cup and the tour of England will More...
achilles Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 So Afridi retires, un-retires and comes back. How unpredictable!
saneindian Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 All this drama jus to get the test captaincy. Expect him to retire from tests if he isn't made the captain of the Pak test team. BTW it would be great if PCB indeed makes him the captain. That could be the perfect denouement for Pakistan cricket.
Ranjha Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 So Afridi retires' date=' un-retires and comes back. How unpredictable![/quote'] You need to correct it to ' How predictable!'..l:haha:

Bublu Bhuyan Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I'd love to watch him playing Test cricket. His average of 37 with the bat and about 34 with the ball in Test cricket is something I'm tired of hearing from his fan boys. Will get to see whether he really deserves those figures, betters them or whether they falter.

CSK Fan Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I think his bowling figures can be better' date=' but his batting figures will be difficult to maintain....[/quote'] in T20, invariably the reason he gets wickets is when the batsmen try to hit him. He very rarely beats the bat on a defensive shot. thats also the reason he sledom picks up more than 1-2 wickets in ODIs. I doubt his bowling will be effective in the test format
TheWall Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 The moment a rumour that Salman Butt might be made the captain of Pak test team - Afridi announces his comeback to test side. Whata a coincidence!!!
Bublu Bhuyan Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 I think the Butt-man may as well be named captain in Test cricket despite Afridi's availability.
Clarke Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 I think the Butt-man may as well be named captain in Test cricket despite Afridi's availability. What ? Salman Butt as captain ? Does he command any respect whatsoever among his mates ? Does he even have his side of the camp btw or will it be the rest of the team bullying that kid ?
nballa Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 What ? Salman Butt as captain ?Does he command any respect whatsoever among his mates ? He doesn't. that's why they are making him the captain.

Clarke Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Butt favourite to become Pakistan's Test captain Sources said Tuesday that Butt was always on the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) radar for the captaincy assignment and after a prolific showing in the recently-concluded World Twenty20 championship in England, the Lahore-based player has improved his chances of becoming the Pakistan captain. So basically, a couple of T20 50s get u captaincy in test matches against Australia and England :cantstop:
TheWall Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 butt also suffers from toothache - which will save pak from some embarassment!
Guest Gunner Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Afridi Made Kaptaan in tests!! Afridi is appointed captain for the Pak test series. :hehe::hehe::hehe::hehe: http://www.ptinews.com/news/667109_Shahid-Afridi-to-captain-Pakistan-in-all-three-formats :hysterical::hysterical:
