No its local Club Cricket. Pretty much a lower tier tournament, like "Kalighat Club' Playiing against ' East Bengal' in Cricket.

He is retired only from International T20s right? He can still play and help his Bandra team win isnt it? We will atleast get to see some strokeplay from him during this off season...

These are names of forts built on the Sahyadri range by the great Maratha King....Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj :isalute: Jai Shiv Sena :P

I don't think its a good choice. Looks like this is the initiative of the Marathi newspaper Sakal which has its largest cirulation in Pune. All these forts are around Pune...so the local people won't find the names of the teams unfamiliar. It's confusing...are there no players from other cities in MPL? It's not easy to identify with the teams... :dontknow: Read this:

City Loyalties – The teams in the IPL are named after cities / states in India however the teams in the MPL are named after forts in Maharashtra. I think that’s a gargantuan mistake, as the most important reason why IPL teams have managed to create loyal and die hard followers, is their association with cities and states. People from Rajasthan actually support the Rajasthan Royals while those from Delhi support the Delhi Daredevils and so on. The MPL has teams like Devgiri Emperors, Sinhagad Supremos, Sindhudurga Sailors… These generate zero passion and following. It still isn’t too late, the MPL should urgently switch to names like Pune Panthers, Nagpur Supremos, Nashik Warriors…. well after watching the world cup 2010 my all hopes were shattered. Before lats day i was used to watch most of the matces.But now i am least interested!

Umm, your view isn't a view when you ask a high profile batsman to bat for his complex to win a chaddi-chaap cricket tournament just so you could see him stroke some boundaries. It's obviously a taunt as you want SRT to play international T20, when he clearly retired from Int'l T20s BEFORE IPL started.
