I am planning to do so and probably would sponsor one either today or tomorrow. Indiatimes sent it and so it cannot be a fake organization and hence, can be trusted. I would also request you all to check the organization and the page they sent me. It is only Rs.600 a month to help out an underprivileged child and sponsor him/her. Rs.600 means less than a few pizzas or a small gadget for Indians and I am sure it would mean a lot lesser for all the NRIs in this forum as the value of money is a lot lesser. It just means less than 13 US dollars, less than 9 UK pounds and less than 11 Euros a month. So, it would hardly even cut into any of your pockets. Adam Gilcrhist, Mahesh Bhupati, Rajdeep Sardesai etc. are some of the present sponsors. panesarv Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 World Vision is a trustworthy organization. I'm also a part of it at UBC, Canada. World Vision sponsors 2 kids in Sri Lanka and 1 in Africa.

Because it is more efficient and brings greater good too greater people. For example the money gone to one child may help the childs community build a well. Not only does this benefit the child but also his community.

Worldvision is a christian missionary....part of this money will probably go on to build more churches and convert the poor I dont think so.. they do not need to take Rs.600 for building churches ... they have got people around the world who pay upto billions for their churches .. if they are getting only 600 bucks for a particular child then that would go to the child IMO And to be quite frank Christian charities are a much more trustworthy charity than Indian ones .. I have hardly seen any Christian charity looting and misusing the money... remember Mother Teresa and her Missionaries of Charity were also Christian charities .. and regarding Indian local charities I know how trustworthy they are .. most of the Indian NGOs are very corrupt and misuse the government funds ... I have seen a lot of Indian people building NGOs for profit rather than helping the poor .. even I was approached by people to start a NGO saying it was very profitable business and I rejected it saying I would never do anything to deprive the poor or earn money in the wrong manner .. I would trust a charity like World Vision a 100 times more than a local corrupt NGO. It is also mentioned in the website that World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, caste, race, ethnicity or gender. And you can check the FAQ too. You can visit the child you sponsor to see it is going out to the right child. Check their FAQ. It is clearly mentioned. Further, any sponsor is free to visit the child or children that he or she sponsors to see the impact sponsorship is making in the lives of these children. A fake organization which misuses funds cannot give such a lot of transparency for sure. As I said I checked and it seemed a very genuine organization. You can check their FAQ about any questions regarding anything.
