hari504504 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 The benefits of strength training are there for all to see' date=' I mean look at Ryan Harris, he manages to bowl 150 K's through sheer muscularity and upper body/shoulder strength. The mans an utter tank![/quote'] Shaun Tait !!!...hits 150s at the same rate as Zaheer Khan hits 135s...
Andy Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 india have never had a consistently quick fast bowler and i don't expect that to change anytime soon. this is the reason india have never won in countries like aus and sa and can never hope to either. We beaten AUS 2-0
Praveen129 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 ^I think 'OriginalPrince' was talking about tests in AUS & SA,not in India. Well,he has a point there.India need a formidable fast bowling attack to win a series in those countries.
The One Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Bhaiyo I think the problem is we are small people. Our fast bowlers are not fit so we cant bowl fast. WE are so slow that even if we bowl yokers batsman can move away and drag them out. What we must do is eat a lot and eat a lot of meat and reproduce large babies. So tehn we can have people bowling very fast. After than we can work on line and length.

Fontaine Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 If you look at Irfan Pathan's hattrick, he was bowling at around 75mph. Similarly with his spell against Bangladesh (on youtube), he bowls at around 75-80mph. The key with him is that he was swinging the ball. During 2007, when he initially fell away and was dropped from the Indian team, he wasn't doing all that badly, when compared to now. My memory of back then is pretty shady, but I'm sure he was swinging the ball, just that his pace was down. I'm not sure whether this was injury or it was actually a technical flaw in his action but I am sure that the decline was over exaggerated due to poor Test performances, whereas Pathan had never done well in Tests, up until then, except Zimbabwe and Bangladesh (I think this was a key part of over exaggerating the problem of a loss in form). The new action which he created at the MRF Pace Foundation and debuted in the World T20, looked an absolute disaster to me. He did well then, but could not keep it up and bowled pretty terribly throughout the period. Recently though, I'm seeing shades of his natural bowling action and he was getting swing in the IPL. I don't think he was fully fit in this year's IPL, so the speed was down, but he was getting a lot of swing and this is the important thing. He had a very strong domestic year, and this is important, imo. If we look at other out of favour Indian seamers, like Sreesanth and RP Singh, they cannot, atm, string a good season together. You're right. Pathan has gone back to his old original bowling action where he was bringing the ball from the back of his head before getting into his bowling arc. He has looked slightly better, but I haven't had a chance to see him in ODI/Test cricket with his old action now (which would be a truer test than T20). My belief was that the MRF Foundation would be merged into the NCA's bowling wing, but this has not occured. As the nation of the IPL, we should really be able to rope in top coaching talent, year round for the NCA. The BCCI made it absolutely clear that the no player was to be part of, gain advice from the MRF in any way shape or form. It's been what two years? And still there's no dedicated bowling coach, biomechanical/fitness coaches in the NCA. The IPL is all about money and franchises can bring in top players and coaches because they know top players around the world wouldn't respect or give a damn about local no nothing bowling coaches that themselves could never bowl over 75 mph and probably can't even spell b-i-o-m-e-c-h-a-n-i-c-s of bowling. Broad is a student of the game, which helps. He studies variations, comes up with some of his own. I do not think India's bowlers have such an attitude. I think Prasad did have an attitude like this and this is why he was a valuable bowling coach. He'd ask around, gain information and pass it on to the players. Maybe. RP Singh is one of the most dedicated, sincere and hard working guys around. How many talent shows, promotional events, bollywood linked events have you seen RP Singh in? Except the problem is when the coaching/equipment/fitness programs aren't available then what's he supposed to do? But there are other obvious idiots like Sreesanth who don't really give a damn. Prasad was doing his best and was developing into a good swing bowling coach but he was made a scapegoat by the BCCI so what can you do? When you have a competitive domestic scene, like in England, teams have good staff and the minor strengthening to RP Singh really helped him. Seems to have worn off now though. I am baffled why BCCI does not send more bowlers to England. Someone like Kulkarni could hold a spot on performance in a Division Two side and would learn loads. The BCCI banned Indian players who were contracted or ever hoped to be contracted in playing for English Counties two years ago when the whole ICL vs IPL thing was going on because most English Counties had ICL players (Indian and foreign). Now that the ICL is finished with guys like Pyush Chawla have gone to county cricket but only when they've been desperate because the overwhelming feeling I've gotten is that Counties in England are still pretty pissed off over the BCCI trying to dictate terms to how they should play their own cricket (remember the BCCI tried to force the ECB/Counties to not hire any ICL players at all).
