no way near the international standards need better selectors, better bowling, feilding coaches, and most importantly, the young players should be eyeing meaningful achievements for the country than the ipl they should concentrate on winning for the country rather than fame and money if they think in a similar manner, we'd definately see a raised standard

We have to take the example of today's match (no i'm not complaining in the hindsight). I'm just alarmed at the way we collapsed from a decent position. Dhoni & Sharma bailed us out and we had a launching pad. OK, UV and Bhajji will be joining the team later. UV is in the top order. Bhajji will be in the lower order. But going by the team selections and Dhoni's adamant attitude of playing the usual suspects in the lower order, is going to screw us more often in future. I don't see any changes in the lower order and I wish we had few good hitters who can bowl too. For the 2nd time running we messed up the Batting PP. otherwise Dhoni should take the Batting PP between 30-40 overs.

Oh  My bad i didn't read my quote posted above.I thought it was directed at me in general and i started thinking about that which players dismal performance was i talking about there. And Johnny i really don't know English, i can't understand it.Can you please teach me the way it should be spoken. And please don't include the Arabic and Farsi "alfaaz" in between as you do here on ICF

The batting collapse today was awful, but by and large the ODI batting is fine. The bowling is a real issue, however, but as we have seen with Tyagi, Umesh, Sreesanth, Dinda etc. in ODIs this year, there really are no better alternatives. Zaheer has declined as an ODI bowler as well so thing are really bleak and we are going to struggle in the World Cup unless the batsmen all have the best tournaments of their lives.

Iv been browsing these forums for a few weeks and recently signed up and must say for an "Indian Fans" forum there is ALOT of negative about the team and certain players, some justified but mostly short term and not reality. I think everyone knows that the teams only weaknesses are: 1. Finding a consistant fast bowling all rounder, all hopes are upon I Pathan and hopefully he will be given chances as Jadega is not good enough for ODI's + T20, reminds me of Kaif abit, struggling to find the boundary when coming in at 6/7 should be your main strength. 2. More importantly fast bowling, our bowlers coming through like Dinda, I Sharma, Tyagi so far havent shown that they will possess the same quality of Z Kahn (tho Dinda has done well at the death), begs the questions what is the MRF pace academy which we were informed about every 10 seconds in the IPL is doing??

Area of improvement : TEAM SELECTION Srikanth wake up, start selecting proper team. I was so exicted to see srikanth after vengy (who i thought did a fantastic job); however team selection of late has been bizzare. Praveen kumar , Ashok Dinda are not long team investments stop selecting them again and again. Why select Saurabh tiwary when we had to rush kartik to replace sehwag, dont give me that he is an opener nonsense, kohli did a fine job as an opener last year in SL against SL.

Did you even watch our bench strength in Zimbabwe? We dont have one. Praveen kumar for the next 2 years is better than having 5 Dodda Ganesh.. Do you realize that playing Karthik was a decision taken mostly by the coach and captain. Karthik was sent as a replacement for Sehwag and rightfully (not the selection of karthik but sending someone to replace sehwag) so

lol everyone was riding on the Dinda bandwagon from the zimboks series.....now everyone dumped him and now they will try and jump on the Ashwin bandwagon before they dump him too. :hehe: We need to kick out Nehra and Zaheer regardless how they are performing, because they will be a liability one way or another. We need to bring back Ishant, Irfan and RP/Sreesanth. We cant use and throw the bowlers like as if they are toilet paper. Out of the bowlers I mentioned they can only improve and have fitness and age in them as opposed to Nehra and Zaheer.

They might have age and fitness but they certainly don't have the ability to take wickets or keep the scoring rate down

Unfortunately, the current rockstars are better than the discarded rockflops you mentioned esp. Irfan. That is the current state of our team. I too wanted India to bring in new bowlers to try out and was even very vocal about it before. But after the Zim series, i have realized that its pointless and for the short term, atleast till the WC, we have to work with what we have.

India can not bowl: I have been hearing this ever since I started following cricket. This is said, usually without dispute, before every major series. It was said and was widely accepted before the 2001 Australia series when Kumble was not a part of the team. Every single cricket fan in the world took it for granted that India would lose because "Indian cant bowl". We won and we won spectacularly. It has been said before every major series. We have however won our share and we have gone on to become the no1 team in the world. We may not have great bowlers in our team, but as a unit they do deliver the goods when the times comes. Sometimes it's Bhajji, sometimes it's ZAK, sometimes it's Ishant, sometimes a part timer like Viru or Sachin. But our bowlers have won us tests enough to reach the no1 spot. Winning a test match is more about bowlers than batsmen. A team with bowlers who cant bowl does not reach no1 position.

As i mentioned in my earlier posts, Bowling has never been our strength. Batting was/is and will be in future unless we discover some very talented bowlers. That's not in our hands ATM. What's in our hands now? The batting line up. The lower order batting SUCKS!! We cannot win consistently depending upon the top order. Yes Top order will click more than often but a very crucial Batting PP is being taken around 45th over. And at that time more often we have one Bhikhari and a certain Posh Boy to screw it up..
