Gunner_Mania Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Here in the UK there are a few grounds that regularly hosts tests every summer & ODIs - Lords, Oval, Trent bridge, Edgbaston, Old Trafford etc and then there are others like the Rose Bowl, Cardiff etc that host pre dominatntly ODIs and sometime tests. India being such a vast country if you could pick 6 centres as permanent Test & ODI hosting venues and the remaining as OD venues, which 6 would you choose? My choice Eden Gardens Wankhede Chepauk Mohali Ahmedabad Kotla
b555 Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 My choice Eden Gardens Wankhede Chepauk chennai (where sachin hit 136) Ahmedabad hyderabad
Laaloo Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Please no Ahmedabad :banghead: There's hardly any spectators (gujjus) who go to test matches and the selectors can't make pitches to save their lives. ( Look at Ahmedabad 08 and Ahmedabad 09)
Serani Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Ahmedabad is a woeful ground, no spectators. From a stadium and pitch point of view Nagpur is excellent but again no spectators turn up.
SachDan Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 My choice Eden Gardens Wankhede Chepauk chennai (where sachin hit 136) Ahmedabad hyderabad Sach scored 136 at Chepauk, Chennai :--D
cowboysfan Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 "permanent grounds" will never work in india.Infact i can see more grounds being awarded test matches.i am actually ok with this but i hope the marquee matches are kept in the big cities.
Laaloo Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 I never want see a test match played in Ahmedabad again. They can get all the T20s and Odis they want for all I care. Unfortunately, India and NZ will play a test match in Ahmedabad in November :banghead:

Sadly even that's not going to happen because of BCCI's rotation policy :(
Guest Hiten. Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata. These 4 venues guarantee you good crowd for all 5 days. We have can two - three floating stadia and give them a chance to along with the Permanent 4. Floating stadia could be: Kanpur, Kotla and Mohali.

Sadly even that's not going to happen because of BCCI's rotation policy :( Why not? Most of the grounds are keener to host ODIs or T20s. It is board which has to change its mindset and keep the rotation policy only for these matches and keep the test grounds fixed, their type of pitch fixed and have a particular number of tests every calender year there. Whats so wrong there, if board is able to differentiate between tests and LOIs?
b555 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Sach scored 136 at Chepauk' date=' Chennai :--D[/quote'] then both r same my sad knowledge :(( thx anyways :hatsoff:
