So recipe is to attack Pakistan and start what would inevitably become a decades long conflict that would lead to 10s of 1000s of lives of Indian soldiers and civilians lost' date=
apart from the total bankrupting of the Indian state, leading to total lack of any state protection for the poor and needy, whose lives will now further deteriorate into abject poverty and chaos and a complete breakdown of all social services leading to near anarchy in the entire country? Bravo dude, bravo!
I dont see how bombing a Taliban ruled pakistan, devoid of nukes, with no country supplying them planes for airforce, tanks for army or a navy, would bankrupt India. It would be akin to Israel bombing Gaza or Russia bombing Chechneya, or USA bombing Afghanistan - how will it bankrupt India? Tell me - how would using our airforce to bomb a Taliban ruled pakistan, with no nukes, airforce, AA guns, navy, SAMs etc bankrupt India?
The above is exactly what has been happening for the last 25 years.

And you’re completely blind to cost of war and conflict, oblivious to the fact that ANY war with Pakistan will have a debilitating influence on our entire country and population. The extremist forces in Pakistan are orchestrating the killings of 100s of innocent Indian every year. So whats your solution? Escalate the conflict, make it large scale and make sure the 100s of civilian deaths turn into 100s of 1000s of civilian deaths and an entire generation of Indian impoverished by war and conflict. What delusions!
If a Taliban ruled, denuked pakistan, devoid of airforce, SAMs, AA guns, navy, armoured force come into being then yes India should bomb the hell out of Muridke, Bahawalpur and wherever else they train the terrorists. If feasible extend the LoC upwards by force into more amenable terrain. Basically take whatever it takes to secure Indian lives from pakistani terrorists. What is wrong with that?

Totally, 100% wrong. We have been impacted by counter-insurgency expenses on our budget, but if we were to launch even a limited strike on Pakistani land, the costs involved are on a completely different plane. The 100s of crores would become 10s of 1000s of crores. Don’t keep exposing yourself as someone who’s totally ignorant of ANY aspects of war and conflict.

OMG dude, do you live in a cave? Have you even been following the news? Do you know much the Insurgencies in Iraq and Afghanistan has cost the US Govt? 2 Trillion dollars so far! Are there armies fighting against US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan? Even by your scenario (which is NEVER going to happen btw), if the Taliban takes over and Pakistan loses its nukes and air-force, what do you think will happen to all millions of conventional weapons, Kalashnikovs present in the Pakistani army? What do you think will happen to the 1000s of shoulder propelled grenades and rockets? More importantly, what do you think will happen to the million strong Pakistani army? I will tell you what will happen – The weapons will simply become Taliban property and significant proportion of the trained, professional army men of Pakistan would join the Taliban in their fight against Indian attacks. They will combine together to launch a series crippling cross border strikes that will immediately kill scores of Indian civilians. Even If the initial stages of the so called ‘attack on Pakistan’ that you so love involved only air-raids, at some point, the cross border incursions and attacks from the Pakistani side will become so intense that the Indian army will be forced to orchestrate a ground invasion to fight the enemy in their land, because there’s only so much air-raids can do. This will start off a vicious cycle of war and conflict that will bleed our country to death. If the might US is on the verge of near economic collapse because it couldn’t fight off rag-tag bunch of Jihadis in Iraq and Afghanistan, what do you think will be the effects of an Indian army fighting the collective force of a significant proportion of Pakistani army, extremists, and now totally polarized population as well? Your line of thinking reveals a shocking ignorance vis-à-vis the machinations of armed conflict. If we could have solved this problem by bombs and guns, we would have done it a long time ago.

OMG dude, do you live in a cave? Have you even been following the news? Do you know much the Insurgencies in Iraq and Afghanistan has cost the US Govt? 2 Trillion dollars so far! Are there armies fighting against US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Most of the cost incurred in Afghanistan is because USA is fighting a battle away from its homeland, with a 100,000 troops in a foregn land. India will simply have to use its air force to obliterate terrorist camps in pakistan.
Even by your scenario (which is NEVER going to happen btw), if the Taliban takes over and Pakistan loses its nukes and air-force, what do you think will happen to all millions of conventional weapons, Kalashnikovs present in the Pakistani army? Yes, and the Indian army should sit back and do nothing. I can understand your logic - you say that they are going to attack us and yet we should not attack them? Either way, the international border is impregnable. An unfettered Indian airforce and army can inflict a humongous amount of damage on a Talibani force devoid of planes or tanks.
Using only a fraction of its arsenal India can make the pakistani region bordering India devoid of all life. I think you dont know the what the Indian border looks like. Any Talibani force approaching it will be detected 10s of kilometers before they reach it, which would be easy pickings for our artillery and airforce. If the Indian border was so soft pakistan would have used its jehadis there instead of along the LoC.
The USA is fighting two wars thousands of kilometers away from its homeland. THE USA RESTAINS ITSELF TO PROTECT CIVILIANS. If the USA were to disregard civilian casualties completely, it could eradicate the entire population of Afghanistan using a fraction of its conventional weapons, not to mention using the giant nuclear arsenal it possesses. India would not have to restrain itself against a Talibani force from pakistan at all.
Your line of thinking reveals a shocking ignorance vis-à-vis the machinations of armed conflict. If we could have solved this problem by bombs and guns, we would have done it a long time ago.
We had solved this problem by our guns in 1971, before our rulers (Indira Gandhi) were fooled by verbal assurances of ZA Bhutto. We had captured 90,000 of their troops. We could have settled the Kashmir issue then and there, by either retaking PoK or negotiating a permanent border. But we were fooled diplomatically.

The answer to the above is that if the Taliban come to power, they will obviously do so by defeating the pakistani army. Their armoured and air forces would be long gone for the lack of spares and foreign equipment. Even if some of it is left, India can easily blockade any supply of oil to pakistan, and anyway who will supply fuel/spares/ammunition to run an armoured force by the Taliban? Are they going to run their so called force on Koranic incantations?
But here’s what will happen. No. Here is what will happen. As soon as the first inkling of pakistan falling to the Taliban is evident, the USA will obviously secure its nukes. There will a naval blockade and total cut off of oil/fuel/ammunition etc exports to pakistan rendering all of its armoured and air forces useless. There will be a massive famine due to the collapse of agriculture and industry. No Talibani force emanating out of that accursed land would be able to stand even a few days in front of the full might of the Indian army and air force. For someone who claims to have deeper insight you seem comfortable envisaging a Talibani run military force running without oil and spares. Get a grip on yourself.

You just say things without justification. Let me know how strikes on terrorist camps against pakistan will cost India a fortune? Most of the cost incurred in Afghanistan is because USA is fighting a battle away from its homeland, with a 100,000 troops in a foregn land. India will simply have to use its air force to obliterate terrorist camps in pakistan.
Huh? Do you even know how these things work? Why do you think the US now has more than a 1,00,000 troops in Afghanistan now? Couldn’t they have just ‘used air force to obliterate the terror camps in Afghanistan’? You don’t destroy terrorists by simply air-raiding them using planes, it doesn’t work that way. These guys are the masters at deception and dispersion. They wont simply gather around and wait for air-force planes to bomb them. Its called basic Counter-insurgency 101, go read it up.
Yes' date=' and the Indian army should sit back and do nothing. I can understand your logic - you say that they are going to attack us and yet we should not attack them? [/quote'] How many more lies dude, how many more? Here’s my position, plain and clear – If the Taliban takes over Pakistan (which it itself will NEVER happen) and if they orchestrate terror attacks within the sovereign border of India, then the Indian govt reserves to right to use surgical air-strikes and limited use of ground force to target and take out the Taliban camps and limit their capability to regroup, amass and train. This position, is unlike the mass murdering, genocidal strategy ‘Oh, lets just bomb everyone for fun’ you’ve advocated.
Either way' date=' the international border is impregnable[/quote'] :haha: So how have the Kashmiri terrorists been coming across into India so far? By underground tunnels?
An unfettered Indian airforce and army can inflict a humongous amount of damage on a Talibani force devoid of planes or tanks.
BS, there’s only so much air-raids can do. You need a sustained ground invasion to fully decapitate terrorists and once you step across the border, you’re into enemy territory.
Using only a fraction of its arsenal India can make the pakistani region bordering India devoid of all life. I think you dont know the what the Indian border looks like.
No, you’re simply clueless on how war is fought in a counter-insurgency battle. If the Taliban can hold forte against the combined might US and NATO for nearly 10 years, then the collective force of Pakistani insurgents and the million strong Pakistani army will bleed us to a painful death if ever launch a cross-border strike on them
India would not have to restrain itself against a Talibani force from pakistan at all.
And what do you think would have happened to the Pakistani army? They would have magically disappeared as well, just like their guns would?
The answer to the above is that if the Taliban come to power' date=' they will obviously do so by defeating the pakistani army. [/quote'] Lunacy. So you think a 20,000 strong rag tag bunch of insurgents can defeat a million strong, heavily armed and professionally trained army? How do you propose that might happen?

Again BS. They will already war enough spares and fuel in reserve to keep their tanks and gunships going for months. And what about rocket and shoulder propelled grenade launches? What about landmins? What about mobile-platform missiles? They will vaporize into the air as well. Does the Taliban have airforce and tanks? How do you think they’re fighting the US in Afghanistan?

Yea, sure all that might happen in a video-game, but not in the real world. This is what will happen if there is even a remote inkling of an Indian raid into Pakistan – the erstwhile enemies, the Pakistani Taliban and the Pakistani army will unite to fight their new common enemy. Millions of Pakistanis will join their struggle as well. These people will combine to launch debilitating strikes into Indian territory that will skill scores of Indians and it will become so bad that India will be forced to send 10s of 1000s of troops into Pakistani territory, which will lead to further casualties as well.
For someone who claims to have deeper insight you seem comfortable envisaging a Talibani run military force running without oil and spares. Get a grip on yourself.

The US wants to occupy Afghanistan, India doesnt want to occupy pakistan. US cares about Afghan civilian deaths more than what India would care about paki civilians. I this very post you have said that you are fine with limited strikes across the border - then what is the problem? Just because I advocate the same thing makes it bad?

Well, first of all PAKISTAN IS ATTACKING INDIAN WITHIN ITS SOVEREIGN BORDERS EVERY DAY. If this situation continues with the Taliban takeover of pakistan then yes India should carry out attacks in pakistan. I have never advocated bombing "just for the heck of it" - only to prevent terrorist attacks, or if India feels that PoK or parts of it are feasible to be retaken.
:haha: So how have the Kashmiri terrorists been coming across into India so far? By underground tunnels?
DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INTERNATIONAL BORDER AND LOC? I suggest you first learn some basic geography about India.
BS, there’s only so much air-raids can do. You need a sustained ground invasion to fully decapitate terrorists and once you step across the border, you’re into enemy territory.
The terrorists will NEVER be able to even cross our international border. Please tell me how can any large group of terrorists cross out IB. The LoC is slightly different - it is a bit more porous, but agan no large group can hope to cross it.
No, you’re simply clueless on how war is fought in a counter-insurgency battle. If the Taliban can hold forte against the combined might US and NATO for nearly 10 years, then the collective force of Pakistani insurgents and the million strong Pakistani army will bleed us to a painful death if ever launch a cross-border strike on them
Well the pakistani army has been BLEEDING us since the last 25 years. You havent even told me how will Taliban bleed us morewhen they cannot infiltrate the International Border (since a much more equipped and trained pakistani army cannot do so today), and the infiltration in the LoC can also similarly not be more that what we have experienced.
And what do you think would have happened to the Pakistani army? They would have magically disappeared as well, just like their guns would?
Surrendered, dead, fled and the rest joined the Taliban.
Lunacy. So you think a 20,000 strong rag tag bunch of insurgents can defeat a million strong, heavily armed and professionally trained army? How do you propose that might happen?
One way would be an economic collapse of the pakitani state. It may lead to a fractious civil war which the Taliban may emerge victorious. The army might itself split along ethnic lines sverely crippling it. Anyway, the Taliban takeover may itself not be too likely but my point was that we should not mind it that much.
Again BS. They will already war enough spares and fuel in reserve to keep their tanks and gunships going for months.
You have JUST MADE A FOOL of yourself. Pakistan's strategic oil reserves last only 10-25 days (http://www.maverickpakistanis.com/?p=1050). On top of that much before the Taliban takeover actually fructifies pakistan would lose the ability to import oil (no money, Indian blockade?) and furthermore India could always bomb pakistani oil depots to take out whatever oil it has anyway.
And what about rocket and shoulder propelled grenade launches?
Useless against jets.
What about landmins?
Useless against air force.
What about mobile-platform missiles?
Cant be run much longer without spares.
Does the Taliban have airforce and tanks? How do you think they’re fighting the US in Afghanistan?
For the last time: US is fighting an insurgency on the soil of the insurgents, where the Taliban have significant local support. US restrains itself to save civilian lives. If the US wanted it could exterminate the population of Afghanistan using only its conventional weapons. You know it, but choose to ignore it. India would not have any of the US compulsions of winning hearts and mind, India need not even have to enter much into pakistan with ground forces.
Yea, sure all that might happen in a video-game, but not in the real world. You just keep repeating "debilitating strikes" without even bothering to mention how such "stikes" will take place. Will they march up the International Border - they will be obliterated many miles before they even reach it. The LoC infiltration we are handling anyway. You havent even answered how any degraded Talibani force will even enter India.
No, you reveal a dangerous ignorance and lack of any real-world knowledge on how conflict occurs. I guess its due to the crazies like you that the world is fettered with so much conflict?
Your real world "knowledge" seems unable to distinguish between the IB and the LoC, can envisage pakistani Taliban running an armoured and air force without oil and spares. I think you are one of those who consider Taliban and pakistan as some mythical warriors (ala Ghazni) who can "launch debilitating strikes" and bleed India to death. Such a fan of the Taliban you are.

Useless against jets. Useless against air force. Cant be run much longer without spares. For the last time:

Of course, the Taliban takeover may or may not happen. The point of my posts in the months old thread was that we should not be worried about it. If you think it is not going to happen then why did you even begin to debate its dynamics and impact on India.
And you’re bigger fool if you think conflict and insurgency is only about tanks and fighter jets. And where’s my answer to this question? Assuming US secures the Paki nukes, what happens to its helicopters, tanks, gunships, heavy artillery? Who secures control of them? Or do they magically vaporize into the air?
It seems you completely choose to ignore what I write in my posts. Most of those weapons WILL BE DISABLED due to LACK of FUEL and spares.
And you’re useless thinking of ‘Oh, I can use jets to win any war every way’, is so ridiculously flawed, its not even funny.
Instead of making general statements why dont you talk about specifics. You have still not disclosed how those "debilitating strikes" will come about.
Oh so the US cannot win in Afghanistan, a country of barely 15 million because it has the local population, but India can defeat the Taliban controlled Pakistan with an army of 1 million and a civilian population of 140 million? :haha:
THE US IS FIGHTING A DIFFERENT WAR, IT WANTS TO OCCUPY AND SECURE AFGHANISTAN, WE DONT WANT TO OCCUPY AND SECURE PAKISTAN (except PoK) SO NO NEED OF LARGE DEPLOYMENT OF BOOTS ON PAKISTANI SOIL.
Exterminate? What are you, some sort of genocide advocate who gets his kicks from seeing people die?
Stating a fact about the overwhelming potential of US conventional forces.
So lets just kill ‘em all right? :haha:
No need to deploy many troops on paki soil. That was the point.
And you have completely ignored what will happen to the 1000s of tanks, heavy artillery and helicopter gunships that will still be in possession of the anti-India forces.
Useless due to lack of oil, spares. How many times do I have to repeat it. Please tell me how will pakistani Taliban get the oil and spares.
And your ‘widsom’ obviously thinks a fractured force of 20,000-30,000 militia can defeat a professionally run army of 1 million.
An economic collapse is certainly not an impossibility. Once that happens and the deep ethnic divides play up leading to internal conflicts it might lead to a takeover. The professional army had to be pushed by the US to stage at least a semblence of resistance in Swat against the Taliban.

If you want to, a neutral label IMO would be "Taliban takeover of pakistan, and Indian response".
