Cricket Australia - radical one-day changes

The major adjustments involve a proposed reduction to 40 overs a side, which is split into two 20-over innings, and 10 wickets for each team. In the hope of maintaining interest in the contest for longer the other innovative additions include:
  • One batsman dismissed in the first innings may be used again in the second innings, similar to a designated hitter in baseball
  • A minimum of four bowlers to be used without any other restrictions
  • Two bouncers between shoulder and head height allowed an over, an increase of one
  • More generosity on legside wides
  • Two fielders outside the inner fielding circle in the first five overs of each innings, and a maximum of four during overs six to 20

http://www.cricinfo.com/australia/content/current/story/467396.html I think those rules proposed are perfect balance between bat and ball. :two_thumbs_up: Would love go to see these later this year. :aha: Even if the teams play in patta wickets, bowling sides have more then enough chance to stay competetive throughout the game.

So does that mean 2 bowlers can bowl 9 overs each and other 2 bowl 1 each in the 20 over innings. This could mean 2 bowlers can share 36 overs within them out of a 40 over game? and umm secondly, wouldnt the option of having one dismissed batsmen bat again bring lot of controversies in the team since if this gets implemented in international circuit down the road, wouldn't every batsmen want to bat again to boost their average?

A minimum of 4 bowlers have to bowl at least 1 over. And then you can do whatever you want. lolwut? boosting averages? by being the designated batsmen in the second innings would carry a responsibility and privilege not a bonus round.

Hmm, yea its carrying responsibility but what about the average..would it be counted per match or per innings..So if a player can boost an average this way, it will have an effect on their market price ie ads etc. and umm so you can pick 2-3 of your best bowlers and fill the team with batsmen who can bowl a bit....sounds like fun lolllllll
