our bowlers deserve some credit too ?

I think if Ishant can bowl with some ferocity like he did in this test every now and then then along with Zak (please be fit) he will be good for the SA series as the pitch will suit his bowling.

This thread got me interested! I would venture to say that if Ishant bowls the way he has been till now (in the ODI series) he is bound to get thrashed all around the park. I am not talking about just the difference between bowling in Tests and ODIs. Ishant right now is totally predictable. He has somehow lost his big inswinger - his stock delivery. That is a serious mistake. So right now, the only way he can induce doubt in the batsmen's mind is when he can get his leg cutter going or when he gets some extra lift from the surface. The problem with getting lift from the surface is that he delivers the ball with a fairly scrambled seam so he cannot make sure that the seam hits the pitch with any measure of regularity. I am sorry - but he has major problems as a bowler. This is not to deny that he did come up with a couple of spirited spells in this series. But that alone is not enough to be the spearhead of the Indian bowling attack.

they bowled well in patches ishant's spell in the 1st innings had him bringing the ball in towards the batsman, like he used to do earlier in his career after having two bad tests, ojha came back well, and though the pitch assisted spinners, he still had to bowl in good areas, and managed a few scalps overall, better performance from all bowlers not satisfying to see them bowl well in the match, and still let SL make the highest 9th wicket partnership could have concentrated on areas just outside the off stump, on a good-ish length

He has not lost his stock delivery, but he has been focussing more on the delivery that straightens after pitching, and in the process, sometimes he tries to get too much from the ball, thats why he is all over the place, short and wide and thrashed to all parts of the ground. On the other hand, his basic seam position is getting affected by this, and he is no longer holding the seam upright, pointing towards the fine leg.Therefore when he tries and get his inswing, he misses his line and its easy pickings for the batsmen. So the only thing that he needs to work on now is the seam position, wrist position at the point of release, and get the basics right, to get his stock ball - The inswinger going along nicely.
