our bowlers deserve some credit too ?

Ishanth bowled well, and Ojha took advantage of the conditions. Taking nothing away from them, but sanga, mathews etc did a great service to us by throwing their wickets away. Still they all clicked in this test reasonably well and deserves credit for their efforts.

no bhajji as well. he would have been effective here. He could have opened the bowling in 2nd inings. Sehwag did great job as well,
I guess bedi was right, Sehwag is indeed our best offspinner :cantstop:

it tells us how overrated Bhajji is.its the sort of condition he does well in,n even Sehwag looked dangerous here.i think he ha to justify his place in the future by being more consistent,if u give Ojha n Mishra as u did to Bhajji, they wont do too bad either,Mishra was decent this game, but Bhajji will take his place in the next test

yes mithun and mishra scored crucial 40's which in the end won us the game
It would've helped if they would've got 4-wicket hauls too. Might've done theirs and Ishant's confidence a world of good.

Ishant bowled well through out the series especially this test he was bowling fast and was very good wickets didn't come but he bowled very well, if he bowl like what he did in this test he will get wickets.

I still have hope on Ishant to make it big. He has lot of potential. He has to set his priority right. Get his basics right. Keeping working on his bowling. Zaheer, Sreesanth and Ishant can be really damn good bowling attack. I would want RP Singh, Mithun (very young, needs to be encouraged), Kulkarni, can't recall name of left armer from U19 that did well in England. Hope selectors and people concerned plan it.

Ishant was a surprise package in the whole series after i saw a glimpse of his return on day one of Galle test when he was thrashed by the SL Batsmen to all corners, he was wayward, trying too many things. But hey, he was a completely different bowler when once he got some assistance from the pitch, some lateral movement from the seam, some bounce and carry as well. That encouraged him to bowl good lengths, and he did trouble Ladybird with that accuracy of his. Ojha and Sehwag were good when the pitch had some grip.Mishra although didn't bowl that badly, but he was average according to me. So yes, we need to give credit to our bowlers who bowled well and got them to 87/7 in the second innings. :nice: I do hope Ishant doesn't get carried away by this, and tries to be more consistent in future

Once again what this shows is that our spinners need bounce on the track more than the turn. I hope our curators take some lessons and ensure to give our bowlers some bounce on home tracks. No other bowling lineup bowls so much on dead pattas. Hopefully we won't see any such pattas in the next 5 tests at home.

Jaidev Unadkat. Agree with everything you've opined.

not sure about Kulkarni.i'd rather have PK.Both r same pace but atleast PK can move it both ways n can bat too

This again showed Srilankans can be bullied under pressure Dhoni did not have good series as a captain, if we had taken our catches in first test then we would be talking series win rather than drawn series.

Ishant was very good. He does not have much to show in the wickets column but after a poor first test (except for one spell), he was generally very good. In the third test, he was a major factor in not letting the top order runaway with things. In more helpful conditions and with a bit of luck he will get his fair share of wickets. However, the performance of the spinners needs to be questioned, or at the very least the strategy of going in with 2 spinners. They were effective only on the last day at SSC and in helpful conditions at P Sara. If that is the case, Sehwag is also as effective as them in helpful conditions and I don't see the point of playing 2 spinners if they are not going to strike like frontline bowlers in the first innings.

yep, been saying all throghout the series that ishant has been bowling really well. some of his spells were absolutely fantastic- the one to jayawardene in the 1st test at galle, 3rd day was amazing. i hope india play zaheer, sreesanth and ishant first change against south africa. we can definitely win the series with that bowling attack. and yes the bowlers deserve huge credit. i am still annoyed at how they let SL go from 125/8 to 257/9 but it was still a good effort by a 2nd string bowling lineup to restrict the flat track bullies in their own backyard. india couldnt have won if they hadnt taken the last 6 for 132 runs in sri lanka's 1st innings.
