May be early for you, I have seen enough of him, to know what I can expect when he leads us onto the field and about playing in foreign conditions, not loosing would be bettering what the previous captains did in the past. We might actually end up winning a few under MSD.

He wouldnt need 40 Tests to become the No.1 Indian Test Skipper, I guess a couple of years would do just fine. By that 50 Test mark he would be the Best Captain ever to have played the game. :nice:

Who are these greats we are talking about and the way you are steering away from the point of one to one win loss ratios or stat comparison, tells me that MSD is better in that area. Isnt MAK Pataudi the best ever captain then, coz the ratio of strength of the opposition to our strength was quite high in the 60's, I mean the West Indies, England, Australia were far competitive back then then they were during Dada's time. So according to your logic, MAK should be the best captain, no?

That's true for almost all teams. Agree/Disagree? And not to forget we were in a rebuilding process after the match fixing fiasco.

Good point there. Same reason for me too. Else was not much a fan of "Ganguly the Player". Have always admired him as a skipper.

So dont go name calling for posters. The fact that pisses me is that the lad hasnt lead enough Outside Sub Continent and all the Comparision has started. Dhoni has been great so far in Tests, but real test will some when he tours more aborad. Apart from NZ he hasnt played as a captain in anyother nation outside Asia.

Shane you are missing one thing, that time AUS was NO 1. Still we managed a series draw against them away. Now Saffers are Next to us, a similar thing against Saffers would just do it. So am all waiting for the SA series, if he manages to draw that all should shut up. And Dhoni hasnt yet played away as a captain even against the NO 4 ranked aus side. So as i said, its too early to be drawing conclusions of him being the greatest.
