New players for the WC is pointless !

this is a disaster waiting to happen. there are too many youngsters in the squad with little experience.Namely kohli, jadeja and tiwary. if this was 2008, you can breathe easily.but the world cup is just less than a year away nd there is not enough time for these youngsters to grow up to make a difference. i am not opposed to them getting some taste of internationals.but picking them for the world cup would be regretful. under the cauldron of a ind-pak match or a ind-aus match, these youngster neither have the refined skills or temperament of experienced players to handle the occasion. they will come a cropper as they did in the last ind-pak match. kohli or jadeja are not striking the ball well enough to change a match anyway . older players like uthappa and rayudu are the right ones.

Understand what you mean, BUT Uthappa and especially Rayudu hardly fall under the category of experienced players who we know what to expect from and jadega has played more than these 2 recently and your calling him a youngster? I agree with your examples those 2 should be playing (uthappa + rayudu) but imo theres only 2/3 positions left to fill for the WC so we should be giving players chances for those which Dhoni isnt doing. Those being no.7 (should if Irfan/Uthappa), and possibly one bowling position if we dont go with 2 spinners (should be Ishant/Munaf). After this at least one batsmen is bound to be injured and tht position is being faught for between Kohli/Sharma and imo Tiwary should have played today instead of DK.

Its pointless. that's what i am saying. kohli or tiwary do not have the game CURRENTLY to damage a side like aus or SA. its a waste of time as far as WC is concerned.. they are apprentices .nothing more.

And Karthik/Jadega do?? That is the point, these guys dont have the game whereas some of the youngsters 'might' do, you talk about Kohli's striking of the ball, but in ipl he did as well as anyone. Players dont necessarily need yrs to make an impact in the team, just look at Tendulkar and co who were an immediate success and even Raina to some extent, these guys have been playing all their lives a few yrs doesnt make a huge differece. They can improve their game by still scoring runs. Plus they bring with them the desire/passion and unknown elemant to opposition bowlers which counts for alot.

Ok, so what is your first choice XV for the WC? First you write that and then we can see who among the apprentices are getting in.

my XV would be: Sachin Sehwag Gambhir Yuvraj Dhoni Raina Irfan Bhajji Jadeja PK Nehra Zak Ashwin/Ojha Karthik Kohli

Uthappa may replace karthik as back-up wicket keeper. No need of third spinner in squad. Ishant should at there.

You can write your XV as well and write as to how many openers, middle order bats, keepers, seamers and spinners you need. Let everyone write his team, then we can. I'm waiting for Youngindia's team.

I'd be happy if he does.but got a lot to improve now.Karthik is denitely ahead as of now

3 spinners in squad for subcontinent is a must,I have a reserve pacer,no need of another

And Karthik/Jadega do?? That is the point' date=' these guys dont have the game whereas some of the youngsters 'might' do.[/quote'] the youngster do not have the game. how can you have a mature game as a 20-21 yr old? it works in another planet. no one in this world becomes a 30 year old at once.there is no logic in what you are saying.learning is always a process of years. it takes years of practise to refine timing and learn more bag of tricks. you are being totally unrealistic.
you talk about Kohli's striking of the ball, but in ipl he did as well as anyone.
not true at all. he has played nothing more than cameos. time and again, he failed in chases because he was finding long on instead of the crowd! Its not good enough at all what the hell has he accomnplsihed against the stronger attacks of aus, sa and pakistan? just look at his knocks there.
Players dont necessarily need yrs to make an impact in the team, just look at Tendulkar and co who were an immediate success
not at all. sachin's avergae in his first 30 matches were not that high. sachin did take 6 years to score his first hundred.only his standard compared to others is higher. players grow up gradually and that's a fact. sachin is the only indian under 23 yr old who has taken on attacks like ambrose.that's the standard. you cannot expect 99% of our under 23 yr olds to survive against ambrose. kohli is no sachin.
and even Raina to some extent, these guys have been playing all their lives a few yrs doesnt make a huge differece.
raina was dumped out in 2007. he scored 50's vs australia after four years of experience! kohli is no more mature now than raina was in late 2006. raina's game matured year by year.
They can improve their game by still scoring runs.
how can they score runs without the game? totally illogical.
lus they bring with them the desire/passion and unknown elemant to opposition bowlers which counts for alot.
the stronger attacks of aus and sa will rip them apart. that's what will realistically happen to inexperienced people. even yuvraj and sehwag do not have good records vs australia. only unorthodox players like hughes and mendis are mysterious for a while.but they were ripped apart eventually as well.

Oh man, your stupid rants about age again! No one will become a better player just by aging. Batsmen from India will also not become better players just by continuing to play in domestic cricket. The only way their game will mature is by playing international cricket, some A tours, county cricket, and practicing with the batsmen like Tendulkar and Dravid even if they have to sit on the benches. Is Kohli a finished product? No, of course he is not. But even if you bring in a 'seasoned' 25-28 year old batsman from domestic cricket, he is going to suffer from the same problems. Look at Murali Vijay. He has got the basic works, but the only way he is going to improve is by staying in the top level set up, not by aging in a cask or playing more domestic cricket. We brought in 'seasoned' Badrinath, who was struggling to get the ball off the square against the Australians and South Africans. In India, you have to identify future batsmen and let them grow and mature in the international set up. Saying that someone at 30 will be a better player than someone at 23 just because he is more aged and has played more domestic cricket doesn't work because beyond a few seasons there is nothing more for Indian players to learn in the domestic set up.

Oh man' date=' your stupid rants about age again! .[/quote'] if you had the read my points carefully, we would have been spread your stupid rant in this post. The point is,read carefully- its just 7-8 months to the WC. there is no time for these youngster to mature enough to make a difference. you didn't see kohli massacring aus and sa attacks in the past year, did you ? there is NO time.

I agree they deserve chances eventually .but the timing matters. why not at 23-24 instead of 21-20? but it has to be givento Uthappa and rayudu first. they are in a realistic position to mature. unlike the under 22 year olds who have NO chance. what damage is done to kohli or tiwary if they get chances after the WC?

what you are clueless about is the senior players started developing their games earlier. for example raina and rohit strike the ball much better and they have the shots to do much more damage. i don't think you notice such things. This is purely because they started earlier.why is kohli unable to play knocks with the authority of raina? ofcourse talent levels also matter.this comparison only applies to players of comparable talent. if a young player is identified as a sachin level talent, he can leapfrog other players. but most players have to follow the pecking order. there is no justification to put kohli ahead of raina, rohit and uthappa. Its all RELATIVE to other competitors in the talent pool.
