Separate forum for WC 2011 request.

Hi Mods, could we have separate forum just like we had one for IPL. There are so many discussions right now it is hard to find one on WC11. That way we can keep it separate, later it can be merged with the main Cricket talk.

I think its a great idea for those planning on going/just wanting to discuss the build up from now. Its actually surprising how few threads are about Indian fans going to the game, especially those in India.

Precisely. I am thinking of going for Ind vs SA game in Nagpur but the tickets are sold out. So may go for Calcutta game but let see if I get Nagpur game tickets or not. I think they should release 2nd phase and I will book mine.

Keep looking cos the other day they released more tickets for one of the other India group match (i think against England). PLus the online tickets are meant mainly for overseas people as they have only issued a small number, if your in India nearer the time you will be able to buy tickets from the usual places alot cheaper. Personally im going from the UK for 2 weeks, thought about the group stages but then id miss the QF onwards, abit of a risk as you dont know if India will be there but thought its worth it for the "chance" of seeing SRT lift the throphy in the final!! Then straight after the IPL starts so will see India play in some form. The semis/final will be released soonish i think, which is why their website updated last week.

I think it makes sense for all the hype and build up to the world cup but would become quite pointless by the time it starts. Its all that we're going to talk about anyway, come the time.

But why? This page is for International cricket and since WC is international cricket, what difference does it make? Soon Champions league forum will be opened, then what do others have to discuss other than future tours and WC? ICF is already segregated into International cricket, T20 leagues, Other topics, Politics and jokes.

WC(50/50) is the biggest ICC tournament and has a bigger fan following compared to the T20WC which would be happening every 2 years as oppose to 4 yrs for the WC...hence I think a separate forum is not a bad idea and then later merging it into reg cric disc forum. great idea Dial bhai

I second that as well. I think 2011 World Cup is the biggest tournament in Cricket so it deserves a special forum just like IPL :D

I think it is just fine. CT is the place for it. Infact during the Worldcup there will be no other cricket so all topics on CT will be related to World Cup. Its ok having a different forum for the IPL/CL because they happen twice a year every year and there is too much noise going around.

Only point is It is getting hard to find the WC related discussion with so many things going on.... Just on Sanga /Randiv contraversy we have half a dozen threads....things just disappear.. So at least few threads on Venues, and Tickets we could keep them in a separate forum so that we can easily reach there..

I am not sure about opening a new forum - there are hardly going to be so many threads on the World Cup from here till January (when the South Africa tour ends) to warrant a completely different forum.

IPL has it's own phorum cause the "purists" wanted to act as if they didn't care about it :hysterical: With the WC since the "purists" also happen to approve of it, no need to fake their dislike :hehe:
