rainy day Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 The way i see it in Test matches India are much better than Sri Lanka as evident from the fact that India pounded them at home and drew in Sri Lanka. In LOC i think they are evenly matched.
KiwiFan Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Lol at some Indian fans who whine about winning tests in AUS and SA- SL has only bn playing test cricket for some 28 years and they have achieved so much in such a short time. Lets compare some of the achievements.. First overseas win - It took india about four decades and some 100 odd matches to score its first overseas win whereas SL took only 10 years and some 65 odd matches. (As far as first home test win concern india's first test win came after 20some years. It took just 4 years for the Sri Lankans to achieve the same feat..) And lets look at the number of test matches India have won in Australia. They have managed to win 5 matches after playing 36 test matches in Australia and the first win came on the 12th attempt (after some 40 years gaining their test status). Since SL gained the test status in 1982 they have only played Australia 10times on Ausi soil and yet to win a test there.. Is it really fair enough for you guys to go on and on about winning a test in ausi, given that you guys were in a similar position? What should I say? give the lankans some more time and matches? Considering wining a test in SA, Indians just have won one game out of the 12tests they have played so far that too came when they were there last time. SL played only 6 matches and haven’t bn to SA since 2002. Overall, two countries have an identical figure of 0.39 of a Win & Loss ratio (overseas that is ). It makes me laughs how some of the indian fans trying to compare SL with the Likes of BD who has achieved absolutely nothing so far. (true they have won a couple of test matches in WI but that wasn't even a WI 'C' side. ) So going by those facts, Indians are not as superior as they are claiming to be. same goes for SL too. But SL has achieved so much in this 28 years and If they are given enough opportunities their stats would only get better.
rainy day Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Nice analysis Kiwi fan, i guess sometimes we all forget how relatively new SL are. I mean only 6 Test matches in SA.

New or not mate, going by those facts, SLkns have achieved most of the feats that india had achieved consuming less number of matches and time.. in other words it took some 50+ years (with all the resources ie money, 1bil of population, popularity of the game, etc) for india to get where they are atm and SL has matched (or atleast come closed to) India in some 20+ years.. If you have a tinniest of brain you would understand the point im tryna make..

vamos_rafa Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Subcontinent again...??? Oh boy you are killing me...:hysterical: I remember this very old interview of Mahela where in it was asked about his dismal performances outside sub continent. He said that people should understand that it is more important to score runs at home because that is where you would be playing most of the times. This and my hindi speaking SL friend's posts clearly suggests the attitude of SLC. Make all records at home and attach so much of importance to it because of the impotency of the players to do anything outside their dens. Keep it up mate!!!:two_thumbs_up:
