Zap_Brannigan Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 This is a place where we can filter out the crap and hopefully get the good posts to a larger audience. So keep this civil, I am making up a few rules. Since this is the first POTW, rules can/will change and is also open to suggestions. Rules: 1. Nominate the posts you liked. Use proper judgement and dont choose posts that abuses others. You can give reasons if you wish to. 2. Copy the Post with the author name and give a link to the thread that contains the post. 3. All discussions replying to a post is encouraged but only in the original thread. 4. No mocking/abusing others here. Certainly no trolling and no spamming. 5. If you think that a particular post is the POTW, let it be known by pressing the thumbs up button below the post. 6. End of the week, whoever has the most thumbs up, wins POTW and gets ICF$ 10 million. Other individuals can award more if they like the winning post or any other post. 7. If you think a particular post doesnt convey the full meaning without preceding posts, then post all the relevant posts but specify which post/author you are nominating. Since this is 1st POTW, the duration is very lenient. You can nominate any good posts from the last couple of weeks and POTW #1 ends 4th September. From the 2nd POTW, we will follow a strict duration. Any suggestions regarding rules can be posted here. There is no one judge or boss here. Everyone is equal. Some less than others (Serani :winky:). Post away!!
Zap_Brannigan Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 Removed. The profiles were copy/paste jobs from Cricinfo.
Lord Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 sarchasm on too many SL trolls these days If we haven't had enough of the BENGALI TIGERS and the perpetually CORNERED TIGERS in the neighbourhood, we now have these STUFFED LIONS pestering around. Can we have some CIVILIZATION please?
kabira Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 u are forgetting that the PAAAVARHAAUSE has more phaaasht bowlers than any other country. they might not even need to call Showbabe. waiting in the wings are other terrifyingly phaaasht jazba and junoon bowlers such as Wuhab Riaz, Sohail khan, mohammad talha, mohammad ali bakwaasullah, taheer naqqassh, sikander bakht, mullah mohammad omar, prince faisal the third, and young ali al-kababuddin. and lets not forget mohammad irfan, the 7'9 NBA first round draft pick for the Los Angeles clippers, who opted out to play kirkett for his beloved dil dil pakistan. they are all lightning phaaasht, stump dishtroying, yorker chucking, inverse swinging, un-aging, ball scratching bowlers that india can never dream of producing, and our jobless paki website administrators living on the DOLE in the ex colonial empire headquarters of the UK can hook u up with plenty of xclusive interviews and sexy video clips. Serani Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 So is the POTW just from the Cricket discussion section or can it be anywhere on the forum?
The Outsider Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Zap, don's descriptions of the players are not original writings but a copy/paste job.
Roshanrocks Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 The very 1st POTW nominee is don corleone's 10 best cricketers ever played for India. Although some may not agree with the list, he gives his reasons and i feel he almost nails it. http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=236913 :hmmm: does this guy write player profiles at cricinfo? :sherlock:
Desi Cartman Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 We were ruined by umpire' date=' Kartik was suppose to score unbeaten hundred and he was taken down by umpire, Before SL troll comes and tell me umpire did not give Yuvi out so it evens out. No it does not work that. If Yuvi had scored 100 then it would have evened out. as Karthik had visited Ajmeribabad and pills to score 100 today.[/quote']
Bumper Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I suggest people post their nominations on this thread. Its great for some one like me who does not read all threads to come to one thread & catch up on the highlights of the past week.
Zap_Brannigan Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 So is the POTW just from the Cricket discussion section or can it be anywhere on the forum? Only from cricket section Zap' date=' don's descriptions of the players are not original writings but a copy/paste job.[/quote'] Will remove it.
IKnowU Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Very true- even Sita spent less time in Lanka than the time that the Indian team spends Regarding the amount of times India play Lanka. :hysterical: Can we make it so that posts dont just have to be insightful? They can be comedic or metaphoric but creative? :dontknow:
Gunner_Mania Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Can we have this thread and the subsequent POTW nomination thread stickie dplease?
kabira Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Great Post by Zap IPL,USA,RAW,Israel...if we had given enough money to them, they wouldnt need to resort to this. But seriously, it is because of lack of any consequence. What happens in Pak when there is no consequence? What is the consequence of planning a terrorist attack? Worst you get is a week worth of house arrest and inconvenience of changing your organizations name. What is the consequence of losing games so that your captain is dropped? nothing. What is the consequence of ball tampering, pitch tampering? You get captaincy. What is the consequence of taking over the country illegally? Presidency for almost a decade. What is the consequence of killing people? 72 Caucasian virgins!! The whole country is fked up from inside out!! I thank allah every day that we are not a part of them. That we dont have bowlers like Asif and Amir.
Roshanrocks Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 is this idea taken from PP... i just went there to check the no-ball scandal and saw this POTW thingy there too
Zap_Brannigan Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 is this idea taken from PP... i just went there to check the no-ball scandal and saw this POTW thingy there too You realize that this concept has been around since the age of message boards right? IIRC ICF had this before but it wasnt organized properly...
Roshanrocks Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 You realize that this concept has been around since the age of message boards right? IIRC ICF had this before but it wasnt organized properly... ok in another forum that i was a frequent member in ...we used to hold contests...such as best threads, most popular member, best poster, funny poster etc  there used to be monthly prizes.. anyway..all the best hope ur thread and concept is a hit :two_thumbs_up:
Zap_Brannigan Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 ok in another forum that i was a frequent member in ...we used to hold contests...such as best threads, most popular member, best poster, funny poster etc  there used to be monthly prizes.. anyway..all the best hope ur thread and concept is a hit :two_thumbs_up: I started this because there are too many trolls these days and ICF is growing bigger. So a lot of chances of missing great posts among some trolling and fun. To have contests like that we need more mods with time. As this isnt the 1st priority for anyone (as it shouldnt be), such contests are very hard.
kabira Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 ok in another forum that i was a frequent member in ...we used to hold contests...such as best threads, most popular member, best poster, funny poster etc  there used to be monthly prizes.. anyway..all the best hope ur thread and concept is a hit :two_thumbs_up: We had all this 3 years back. Best Poster, Funny Poster, POTW etc. But we did not have enough volunteers so it died down.
Zap_Brannigan Posted August 30, 2010 Author Posted August 30, 2010 The 6 categories of life-bans - PCB style 1) The "He's so talented to stay banned" ban In this kind of life-ban the players is banned between a series end and the next series beginning. Before the next series, realisation sets in that they dont have a player to replace the banned player, the fans clamour for a comeback, the authorities decide that the banned player has learnt his lesson and the player is pardoned and selected for the next series A typical Pak fan comment - "He might have murdered someone but it was for his country and anyways I dont care how many he murders as long as he still plays in the next match" Typical example : - Sohaib Akhtar 2) The "He is just stupid" ban In this kind of life-ban, the player is banned because of extreme unsporty behaviour/cheating, but is pardoned based on the fact that the player has an IQ below 50. Kind of like when criminals plead insanity as a defense A typical Pak fan comment - "He doesnt realise that he was cheating while dancing on the pitch or biting the ball because he is such a beast Typical example :- Shahid Afridi 3) The "He was led astray" ban In this kind of life-ban, the presence of another player having had more than 2 life-bans automatically helps the newbie to be pardoned based on association. Everyhting is blamed on the more experienced culprit and the other guy is the innocent lamb led astray by the wolf. the newbie is also thought to be completely incapable of independent thoughts, a prime criteria to be 'talented' Typical Pak fan comment - Ban that senior guy. Why was he in the same state when the newbie commited the offense? He might have retired but he still is such a bad influence on the youngsters Typical example - Asif (his first time) and possiby Amir 4) The "PCB is your father" ban this kind of life-ban is enforced by PCB to show a player, who has been getting too big for his boots, his rightful place. The ban can be immediately re-considered if the said player begs forgiveness (despite doing no wrong) and bows to PCB dictates. A typical Pak fan comment - Why cant X beg forgiveness for all his sins even though he has never commited them. Its for the country's sake Typical example - YK and MoYo 5) The "Save his ass from ICC" ban This kind of life-ban is used to protect star players from being banned by ICC. The ban is enforced only to be removed before the next series after a "democratic" tribunal hears the appeal A typical Pak fan comment - But he has already been punished by PCB once. How can ICC punish him twice for the same crime Typical example - Asif 6) The "Its all a conspiracy" ban In this life-ban, the player is banned because of loads of evidence against him but then it is alleged to be a conspiracy by BCCI/RAW/Mossad and following a national outcry, the player is unbanned Typical fan comment - I am sure BCCI added nandro while he was peeing into a test tube Typical example - Asif
