Pakistan cricket: The Way Forward

Though technically there is only one option which is way forward and no second option but sometime by not reacting to demands of the situation you can fall behind, from where you still move forward but not meeting the modern days requirements. Pakistan Cricket is perfect example of this scenario, it has never stabled as a nation and in this case cricketing wise, always when it looks the sun will keep on shining from here on, a thunderbolt disappoint this expectation. Pakistan Cricket as always will find a way out from these difficult times but it depends, how, when and for how long! How can the fortunes change for Pakistan cricket, will it be through the changes in administrative circuit, the including of youth, or by simple leaving it to circumstances and us fans to just follow what is provided to us! The best option which is in favour of all the parties who are in favour of change for better, is a change in administrative and management of PCB. But obviously after change in persons, change in policies is specially needed. such as even Muhammad Sami can ball at 95 mph on his day but until his line and length is not spot on it wont make any difference to his rubbish abilities. My second choice was introduction of youth in the team and on benches, if Pakistan keeps on playing these pointless cards on recalling the Oldies, it will never overcome the problem in long term. But by the look of things this can only happen once the management is changed for something hopefully better. so really both things have to happen at once, expecting one to happen and other to stay same and improve maybe asking too much from Pakistani genes. The third option which doesn't need any change, is to keep on watching this great game of cricket, and ignore your weaknesses by saying after all there is only winner, and hopefully things will change. This thinking I got to say is of a Loser! Its a thinking of a paralysed nation.

thats i admit is a rare case, which could have been eliminated if the management was strong one!

Honestly I would want to see Pak. cricket out of this mess. Producing talented and "clean" cricketers. Here are my few suggestion, 1) PCB:- Getting Butt out isn't the end. He is just a puppet. The constitution of PCB that allows a president to appoints its head has to be challenged. Is it is a govt body or private ? Whatever is the Pak. equivalent of PIL ( Public interest litigation ) as was done in India 2) For a lot of Pak. fans and media, "get out of denial mode". While I do admit, there are serious issues with BCCI, it is still a profit driven and relatively well run institution. It was quite shameful that after the spot fixing videos were out, Pak. media had run a campaign of conspiracy against BCCI, Pawar and RAW for the Pak. players caught on camera and Pak. agent/bookie taking the money. Like Imran Khan said, what is happening with Pak. cricket is symptomatic of the state of the nation. The govt. which is run by corrupt people starting from the man at the top has systematically destroyed institutions and giving the message to the people that crime does pay. 3) Punish the guilty without any leniency. If the guilty would have punished in 1994, we wouldn't have been stuck in this mess. But this ain't going to happen, with Rana being latest in the long list of Pak players whose bans were cut short recently. It is very difficult to take a nation and its cricketing structure to be taken seriously when this happens time and time again. Instead of playing the "victim" card and conspiracy theories which has become a national pastime it seems, if Pak. auhorities had taken the onus when the spot fixing allegations were made to do an investigation and punish the guilty, they would have earned a lot more respect. 4) Batting:- I think the lack of batting talent at the moment is really hurting their cricket. While Pak. will continue to produce raw talents in Fast bowling, the limited technique that is required to be successful at the international level seems to be missing. I would question the role of academies here. 5) The biggest problem I think is the lack of structure. It did not hurt much in the 80s and 90s when there was an Imran Khan who could spot talent from streets and get them to play for Pak. Whatever they achieved in 90s was down to his legacy. But the talent seems to be drying up more so on the batting front. Team could very well be in shambles ( relatively speaking ) if measures are not taken now. 6) Get cricket back to Pakistan. It is a nearly impossible task considering the confidence of world cricket. It ll take relentless PR campiagn and lot of cajoling possibly for years before cricket returns to Pak. But the process has to start.

Sports is directly correlated to Country's economy, governance etc. - unfortunately with Pak the problem runs even deeper - its messed up at DNA level. What we are seeing now is just precursor of worse things to come. I do not see any hope in near future, not in this decade.
